checks before the wedding

We got our first Wedding Gift today. A frriend of mine and her husband can't attend our wedding and sent a check along with their response.

My wedding is still several weeks away. Should I cash it or wait till after the wedding? Will she think it is strange if I wait 7 weeks to cash it?

I think you should cash it now, and immediately send a thank you note. :-)

I would hate to have a check out for 7 weeks...uncashed...

I think the basic rule is if it is more than 2-3 weeks before the wedding, you should cash it and send a thank you right away...

I can't beleive it is almost here. We still have to do our programs. Haven't finished deciding on readings and songs yet. Welcome baskets for the hotel. Shower is tomorrow. Start fittings next week. Need to come up with a hairstyle. Have our tasting. Finish must have pic list and song list. Confirm with all the vendors. Get GM gifts I took care of the ladies already. After we get all the responses in we can do tables. I think that is it. How about you?

The same has happened with us too. We have been receiving gifts and checks from people who cant' come and I have been writing my thank you's now. Plus it will alleviate the thank you's you'll have to write after the wedding.

I agree, if you wait to long they either forget about it or stress about when you're going to cash it.
I'd cash it and send a thank you immeidately.
