Cheering up a bride if possible..

Cheering up a bride if possible..

My poor friend/collegues wedding was nearly appoaching (its in two weeks). Due to unfortunate events her love of her life was in an accident and had past away in November. She has gotten some way thru this greif with the help of higher powers.
But I have lunch with her and she asks me every weekend to get together (and we do) we have gotten VERY close since her recent tragedy and she is so hurt by even the look of a calander.
I am very concerned for her and she is concerned for herself. She has been to many greiving couselors etc, but I want to do something for her that day to maybe make it not as bad as you would think it would be. Her family are workaholics like her and would be NO help! She is not working that day either.

Any Suggestions???? My poor friend :(((((

TIA

WOW....I'm really sorry to hear about your friend.

I don't really have a suggestion, but have you asked her what she would like to do that day?

Maybe she just needs someone to be there with her that day. She may not be up to do anything since nothing will be able to replace the events that should have happened.

You're a good friend......Good luck.

What if you were to spend the day celebrating her and her fiance? Make it a day of memories and good times. Maybe get together and make a scrapbook?

Either way she's going to be thinking about her FH so much that day. Why not embrace it and just be there with her?

I feel terrible for her. Big hugs.

Than that's all you can do for her, is be there.

Personally, I wouldn't push anything else on her that day. I would just be there with her and let her cry. And explain to her that this will be the toughest day she has to get through, and once she does maybe than she can begin to heal and move on.

I like this idea. I def wouldn't take her out anywhere since she'll prob be a mess and won't want to be seen in public. Just stay home with her and talk about how much he loved her and how he'll always be with her. Remind her that he would want her to be happy and wouldn't want her to suffer so much.

I'm so sorry for your friend, but it sounds like she's on the right path to recovery. My mom lost her FI 30+ years ago (before she met my dad) and I know she spent some time on vacation with his family just to get away; you could suggest that to your friend.

My deepest sympathies go out to her.

Maybe take her away for the night? Even if you just go stay at a hotel and order room service?

By theway, I'm so sorry to hear...I could not even imagine!

I really liked the scrapbooking suggestion. Even if your friends not into that maybe a day talking about the good times she had with her fi...like get some ice cream and other goodies, hang out indoors maybe at her place and share stories and make the book?

I am so sorry for your friend. I can't even imagine what she's feeling. I think the best thing you can do is just be there with her. I don't think you have to go anywhere or doing anything, except for being there.

These are all great suggestions. I lke the hotel room service, possibly 80's movies to make her laugh?? She mentioned just going in for plastic surgery that day so she is knocked out all day and wakes up with a fab. body, but she already DOES!! But its what ever she wants.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions, I knew this would be a place to start.

Reading this made me tear up. I am so sorry for your friend and can't imagine what she must be going through. I'm sure having a good friend like you means the world to her. As the others have said, the most important thing you can do is be there to hug and comfort her. My thoughts and prayers are with her!

The best thing you can do for her is be with her that day. I don't know if she'll really be up for going out. I thought about a spa day too but she will probably be too emotional that she wouldn't even enjoy it. I would definitely bring her the following weekend.

I commend you on being such a great friend.

i think you just being there to go through whatever she needs to go through on that day will be more than helpful. you can suggest ideas, such as making a scrapbook or whatver, but follow her lead.

as far as plastic surgery goes, i would NOT encourage her to commit to something as big as that at this time in her life.

i would HIGHLY encourage her to see a counselor on a regular basis for a while. maybe she can join a support group to talk with other women who have lost their significant others. i you could locate a support group for her and offer to go with her to her first meeting.

best wishes to your friend, i am so sorry she has to go through this. i cannot imagine how hard this must be for her. kudos to you for being such a good friend to her during this time.
