Chicas who already went dress shopping

Original post by evewedsjc

It will be my first time on Saturday and I was wondering how it goes..

Do you just show them the pics and they bring you what is in the pics or dresses that are similar to the pics...

are you allowed to browse through racks..???

I went to Bridal Reflections. They asked what kind of dresses I liked at they brought it what I was looking for. Definately go with an open mind though! Because I ended up falling in love with something that I never would have tried on in the first place and getting it!

which bridal refelction did you go to..that is where my appt is...

i went to the wedding salon in manhasset and the vera wang store right next to it ...they are affiliated. i showed my salesperson (rosemary - awesome) one dress i saw in a magazine that i totally loved, but wound up getting something completely the opposite! they are awesome in those two places and i highly recommend them to everyone.

p.s. i had it narrowed down to two dresses at the wedding salon before going to vera...i didn't even want to go there since i thought i found the dress. but then i found THE dress and had the most amazing reaction....imo...if you can't decide between two, neither are THE dress and keep looking! you'll find it!

since it is your first time, i would say don't limit yourself to a certain style or fabric. plus, its just that much fun.

some places ask if there is a certain designer, style or price range to help narrow the search. and some places just tell you to pull whatever you want off.

take lots of pics of any that you really like. its always helpful to go back to pics.

I went with pictures and they pulled all the styles from them and had me try those on so I could see what was best for me. I LOVED DRESS SHOPPING!!! I an 99% sure I found my dress but since it was the only store I went to so far so my mom wants me to check one more. Good Luck and take lots of pictures.

I had an idea of what i wanted but i went to the salons w/ an opened mind and tried every style gown until i found what was the most fabulous on muah.

so go with an open mind and try on as much as you can

When I went, I had an AMAZING experience. However, I had called them months later and asked them a question over the phone and they were kind of rude. I don't know, maybe I caught them at a bad time?

I bought pics, I was able to look threw the racks and they gave me some ideas. The dress that I am wearing was picked by the sales lady!!

You can usually browse....tell them what you like....I didnt bring pics but thats a good idea too! I went with my BFF and made her try things she wouldnt normally and she ended up buying something TOTALLY different....so I recc jus letting them bring you pretty dresses also

Re: Chicas who already went dress shopping

I bought my dress at Pronovias and we looked through their books first - my mom actually noticed my gown on our way to the dressing room and asked if that could be included in the set. Normally not many places allow you to go through the racks but all places are different. Good Luck!!!

You can do a bit of both, but make sure you start looking through the racks, otherwise, sometimes, they will just bring you like 8 dresses they think are like or are your pics. In fact, my lady didn't have the pic I brought, but had other EOM dresses, and it was ME who pulled my dress off the rack to try on. She pulled similar dresses off but wasn't really paying attention the part of the dress I like the most, but I could spot it from a mile away . . . .

Oddly enough, she was a bit bothered that I took charge, but the dress I wanted was the priciest of the group, so she calmed down . . . .I actually think she thought I was going to bring a dress in I wouldn't buy, but I mean, I brought in a pic from the same line!!!!

In the middle of it all, a saleslady from the Bronx (I'm in VA) kind of took over and was like 'I'll help her' and I was like 'thank you,' I need a NY'er. I'm not going to limit myself to the dresses she thinks 'look like' what I want.
