Children at Bridal Shower???

Debi and I do not think it appropriate for children to be at the shower. What say you? Mary MOB

I agree! It may get a little raunchy and even if it doesn't I don't think it's appropriate.

I'd def. say no little children..however I'm having my 2 Jr. Bms come to mine b/c they are so excited to be a part of the wedding, they want to see everything! They will be between 11-13 yrs old at that point...so its not so young. I guess lol

I have seen it done..it was the flower girl and her brother, and a close family baby.

The little ones stood in front of the bride the whole time and people kept telling then to step away so they could take pics.

Im not having any at mine, My nephew is the RB and my sis (MOH) would like a 4 hour break anyway).

The only child I would like at mine is my niece, who is my FG. My nephew is my RB, but he can hang out with the boys for the day.

Only if they are in the BP. In my case my MOH's two daughters are my FG's. Most likely they will be there but that's fine w/ me

I don't know about this one. I say the shower is ok, definitely more appropriate then the wedding.

im both ways about this one too

showers i think its ok..at least give these children something to participate in and feel like they are part of the brides special day..instead of them hearing 'oh you cant come'

that kid is going to be sad

I was at a bridal shower once where one little child insisted (and was allowed) to open all of the gifts. A lot of the guests were very annoyed. The shower is supposed to be the bride's day, not anyone else's!

no kids at the shower, church or wedding reception LOL

if i was a kid and i found out all these people ddnt want me at their wedding simply because of my age.....

...when i got married i wouldnt invite any of them..id say..i think youre a little old for my wedding its going to be going on real late

that will teach people not letting kids at their wedding

I've seen this happen too. It's not that we don't love children, but I think the Bride should be able to open her own gifts and have a peaceful time. Mary MOB

Well that is a different circumstance, If 20 is the max, then my opinion would be different. If Debi really wants this person to come, maybe she could find somebody in PA to babysit. I'm not saying it is Debi's responsibility, but it may make the mother of three feel like she is really wanted there and the children would be welcome too if there was enough room.

ETS: Or at least she could just say it that way...lol! Nicer then just saying I don't want the kids there.

Thanks for your input!!! Debi didn't know what to do, because there are three children in the wedding, two girls, ages about 6 and 11, and a boy, about 8, and their Mom is going to be invited to the shower. They are from N.Y., coming to Lancaster, Pa. There's very limited room. Only about 20 can fit comfortably, in the tearoom, and with the list having 23 adults being invited, Debi did not know what to do. The concerns are:
Space
Doesn't want to offend the Mother of the three children in the wedding
Not appropriate because of adult content, lingerie, etc., especially for the little boy.
Concerned that FMIL, won't come if she's the only one who can come from Long Island. And Debi said if the Mom can't get a babysitter, then she might not be able to come. Mary MOB

If they are in the bridal party IMO I think they should be invited.

I don't think a bridal shower is appropriate for a child. That being said, my FG will probably be there as her mom is one of my BMs and there is no one to watch her. I don't know how she's going to be kept entertained when her mother is helping me!
