Original post by debismom

Debi and I do not think it appropriate for children to be at the shower. What say you? Mary MOB

My fg's came to the shower. They were the only little ones and they were fine. So cute and they wanted to help! I think it was fine!

Same with me. It shouldn't be a play ground, but a few kids there won't hurt. Plus I have never been a a bridal shower that got raunchy. Just a little lingerie. My niece saw it and said 'oooo, pretty' she had no clue.

If it is size issue(meaning the number of people) that is different. But I think girls in the BP should be invited.

I agree. They're annoying. They want to open the gifts. The get into ALL of the photos. Annoying.

awww poor little guys, lol. I think it's cute when they get so excited. I remember when I went to my aunt's shower when I was a jr bm and we did that, lol. Maybe my aunt didn't find it so cute

I thought is was cute when my niece was helping with the gifts like a good FG. Plus all the family we dont' see all the time got to see her and and how big she got. I could have never excluded her. I could care less about pictures. She is more important to me than any picture I would ever take.

i think it depends on the age, personally i agree as a general rule kids shouldnt be there.

i agree. A bridal shower is for WOMEN or if you do a jack and jill Adult couples. not children. Children do not need to be involved in every single function and if their parents can't find care for their kids thats their problem.

next thing you know parents will wanna tote their kids along for the bachelorette party or a passion party...

I agree! It may get a little raunchy and even if it doesn't I don't think it's appropriate.

Isn't it the Bachlorette party thats supposed to get raunchy? The Shower is all the relatives, old aunts and grandmas and a few close friends. My cousins are on the list to be invites (8 and up) and my niece who is 5.

yeah thats what i was thinking. We have our grandmothers there and some older aunts and relatives so i dont want it raunchy bc then it will be uncomfortable. I know ill get some lingerie, not too much so it wont be that bad but other than that it wont be raunchy well i hope not lol dont care to be raunchy with a bunch of older relatives especially our grandmothers lol

i actually want our FG, RB and even a few other kids there

I'm having them...just my first cousins, 2 are the FG (they are 6 and 7) and then my 2 other cousins, one is maybe 12 and the other is 18 (so I guess she's not really a kid haha).....it's a family event and I went to my aunts' showers when I was little. I think it's completely perfect to have those kids!

I would prefer no children at the shower, inc.those in the BP. but at the wedding i'd like to just have the BP kids.

I dont know. I am on the fence with this one.

My 2.5 year old FG will be there. Shes my niece.

But i think it depends on the shower and the personality of the party and the bride - a garden party esq shower is fine - why not! But when theres alcohol and rowdyness and sexually explicit fun - then its not appropriate for them to be there....They can come to an after party - maybe after the guests clear - for some more appropriate fun.

Although i have realized since babysitting 3x + a week for my brother - there are times when moms want a break - and want to have some fun - and that might be one of them! I understand when I was younger and was inweddings and things that I was left at home at times during parties, mom needs her time too...

But the age of the kids are a different story too, because a 15 year old? What hasnt she heard yet!

I truly feel this is one of those questions that has an infinite amount of answers and can go eithe way...too much to take into consideration....

FH's cousin may be there, though I don't think she will. She is in 1st grade. It wasn't my idea, I was sort of talked into it

ive seen kids at a shower and ive been to ones with no kids....never seen it get 'raunchy' lol i need to go to better showers!

same here! out of all the showers I have been to I have never seen one get raunchy. dang I guess my family and friends are boring! my flower girls will be at my shower. I don't mind kids... they are adorable. but if you have space issues that is def a good enough reason to not have them there

I think the only child that will be there will be FH's 7 year old niece. She's also our FG, and she all about this wedding. She's a 28 year old trapped in a 7 yr olds body. I think she's be pissed if she didn't go.

Re: Children at Bridal Shower???

I do NOT want kids at my Bridal Shower but MOH is insisting that my niece and a few others be allowed to be there. It's a disaster b/c I know she'll be chasing my niece around all day and if she is not, then my mother will be! I don't think it's too much to ask to have my mother to myself for ONE DAY!
