FI and I were thinking of putting a cutoff age of 15 and above at our wedding. What happens if a couple has one child older than 15 and another younger. How can we invite one without the other?????

Re: Children at the wedding
I think most people use the 18 year old cut off...

Re: Children at the wedding
maybe you could say something like ' we want the parents to have a nice night out without having to watch their children the whole night'

Re: Children at the wedding
My goddaughter and her sister (who are my cousins) are in my BP and they will be 13 and 15 at the time of our wedding. FH has cousins that he is very close to and most of them will be around 15 at the time of the wedding and I know he wanted to invite them but two sets of cousins each have another child that is like 8. If I don't invite ANY kids, I'm afraid it's going to cause a family war since my cousins will be there (even if they are in the BP)

we had a cut off of 16. only the kids who are in the bridal party were allowed to come to the reception.

Re: Children at the wedding
Going through the same dilmemma now. We have a few people who have young kids and a few who have teens and we are wondering what to do. I don't care about having kids at the wedding as long as they are well behaved. They could be 5 years old as long as they don't cry or get wild and rambunctious. I wish there was an easier way.

I had kids at my wedding- they had their own table. The youngest is 6 and she is very well behaved... I could not invite one set of cousins and not the other just because of age.. it didn't seem right.

Re: Children at the wedding
We are not having children-simply because the parents basically requested it-because they wanted to enjoy themselves. There are three cousins of mine will be 19, 16 & 13 who are more like adults-they are such good kids-so they will be invited. I am going to put ADULT RECEPTION following @.....

Re: Children at the wedding
As a parent, I would never bring my children to a wedding where they weren't specifically invited. It is no fun for me. I enjoy the night out with Matt. At our wedding, the three of them will be in the bridal party but after pics my youngest will be taken home. The older two (will be 9 and 10) are staying as long as they behave.
Edited to say: No other children will be invited.

Re: Children at the wedding
We didn't want any chidren at the wedding, and only the flower girl and ring bearer were allowed. But at the last minute, my husband's cousin called to ask if they could bring their 3 year old because they were having babysitter problems. It was either say yes, or lose them as guests, so we said yes. That darn kid talked ALL the way through our ceremony!! You can hear it clearly on the amateur video. I only hope and pray you can't hear it on the REAL video...... Weddings are NOT a good place for young kids. That's just my humble opinion.

Re: Children at the wedding
I'm leaving it up to the parents. Chances are they won't want to watch their kids and will want to enjoy the night. I'v ealready been told by a few that their kids wont be going

Im inviting the kids but if the parents want a night or weekend out without them its their choice not to bring them.
