China (w/poll)

We registered for both. I didn't really care about getting fine china, but my mom told me to put it because now is the only time you can register for it and possibly get it - like no one is randomly going to buy you fine china one year for Christmas. For the fine china, I went with a simple pattern. It's white dishes with a silver ring around the edge.

As for everyday dishes, I was also worried about what colors to get. I too have no idea what colors any of my rooms will be. So I tried to stick with neutral colors, or colors that would go with almost anything. Most of the stuff I registered for in terms of electrical appliances were black or silver. So then I saw these everyday dishes by Denby which are this black/charcoal looking type of color and went with that. The Denby dishes are actually somewhat pricey. But according to Macy's it's everyday dishes.

My mom mentioned how you can get everyday dishes like Corelle, for cheaper at a Corningware store. But she kept saying now is the time to register for the nice stuff. And if I don't get the everyday dishes I registered for at Macy's, then I can always go to the Corningware store and by myself the Corelle dishes.

I registered for both. For my china, I got Lenox Venitian Lace. For my everyday plates, I got square everyday white plates from BBB. I like the solid white, very modern looking and can go with a lot.

Great minds think alike!!

I registered for just everyday. I am not the type of person to have fancy parties. I registered for 12 settings of nice light brown plates and I think these will be fine for me no matter what kind of people come over. I can dress it up if I want with accessories.

We only did fine china. we have lived together for 7 years now and already have a nice everyday set.

BUT

if we didn't have it we would have done both. If you are just starting out and dont have everyday dishes already, I say get both.
