You can also check out Middle Island country club. My cousin got married there about 5 years ago and they did a nice job. I think they are in your price range. They are listed on this site also. Good Luck!

This months' Bridal Guide has 2 ads for places in Queens that you might want to call. The first is Fleur de Lis @ 718-366-6703. The second is Le Cordon Bleu @ 718-441-8803. . I also just thought of the Nautical Princess from Freeport @ 516-623-5712. We looked at their boats, and liked them, but we have too many people. They emailed me a proposal, which I will forward to you if you are interested - just forum mail me. Additionally we had an engagement party at Cucina Bay Restaurant in Merrick (on the water -really nice, they have a website). We had a brunch, but they told us they had done a wedding, and based on the prices, they might be worth considering, except they wouldn't hold more than 50 for a sit down. Good Luck - contavt me if you want the info on Nautical Cruises

My mom went to a 50th birthday party at Fleur de Lis last weekend. She said the place was nice and the food was really good.

Ok, I have a list of like 30 places to call and check out now. I went to Villa Lombardi's last ngiht and that place is amazingly gorgeous. The price for a Friday night in April was $90pp, plus tax and gratuity, too much for me, plus they needed a minimum of 150 people. I will probably only have like 120-130, including kids. But wow, that place is great:) Also, while I was out there, I went to Majestic Gardens. They were asking only $5 less than Villa Lombardi's, and boy was I shocked when I heard that. They are 2 totally different places, but I guess it depends on your taste. That place was jsut not for me. It smelled funny in there, the cocktail room was nice than the dining room, and the guy was really really wierd, and kept staring at me and my best friend, making us very uncomfortable. Tonight, I am going to check out the Scotto Brothers places. My price range I say is $50-60, but thast before tax and gratuity. So thank you everyone for all of your help

I hate to repeat myself but I would try to check out the Manor East in Massapequa if you can. We are paying $112 per person (that is with tax and gratituty) for a Saturday night in September, but we are getting alot for our money.

I am having my wedding at Fox Hollow. I loved all the Scotto places but that was my favorite. Depending on the day of the week and the time of the year, they can be very reasonable. I also wanted to agree nylisa about Manor East. It's really a lovely place and they had packages that were in the $50-60 range. They give so much more for the money than the other places in Long Island. In that range, I thought the nicest places were Manor East and Swan Club. I seriously considered both and I think they are both nicer than so many of the overly priced places that you will see.

I was just thinking of another reception hall that is in your price range. You can check out the Coral House in Baldwin.

Here is what I did to narrow down the list of 30 places that I liked:

1)Called all of them and asked about the minimum # of people (we're only having 100) for a specific date and day of the week
2)Asked for the lowest price per person they can do on that day of the week and time. I made sure that it was all unlimited liquor, but didn't care for vienese table
3)We were having something unusual - i.e. ****tail hour before ceremony, so I made sure we were allowed to do that.
4)if one ceremony at a time is a factor, you can find out over the phone.

Because our wedding is in NJ (and I am just invading the LI board ) I can't give you place names, but this way you can save yourself some time, miles and gas by hopefully elimitating a few places over the phone. Also sometimes you can get a different person on a phone who may be willing to give you some kind of price quote.

Sorry this was long.

ok, well thank you so much for your thoughts and ideas. I will definitely be researching a lot now to narrow down my choices. I never realized how hard wedding planning can be, and how helpful this site can be. So thank you all for all of your help.

Re: Choosing a reception hall

Cathie ... Scotto brothers are $79 plus tax and gratuity ... I am a Scotto bride, so I know. It is more of what I wanted to pay, but I fell in love with the place. Prior that I was thinking in the Coral House, which si between $55 to $59 depending on the day, and you can always upgrade things. The small halls are there are not so nice, but the big halls are beautiful. I am having a 50 people affair, so it was not for me.

good luck,

Elena
