Re: CH..to be there or not?
I want to enjoy my whole party! So I'll definitely be there! We're going to see each other before and take pictures before the ceremony so we can celebrate with all of our family and friends the whole time.

Re: CH..to be there or not?
I definitely want to be at my cocktail hour. I find it a great time to mingle with and talk to my guests. I also want to experience all that my cocktail hour has to offer instead of staying cooped up in a room for an hour. Another thing is that my FH has been in many weddings and I always hated the fact that in some of them I couldn't see him during the cocktail hour.

We are not missing ours. I like the idea of being able to talk to everyone before the sit down dinner. I'm not sure if we will have the announced entrance. Maybe we will do that after everyone enters the main room for dinner. I haven't really figured that out yet.

This is what we did. Although the CH was outside so everyone saw us taking pics. We still had that grand entrance into the reception, I mean it didn't take away from it.

Re: CH..to be there or not?
my FH and i are taking pics before the ceremony only because our ceremony and reception are at the same hall. that only leaves us with 1 hour to take all the pictures that we wanted. so, taking pics before seemed a logical thing to do. if we were not in a huge time constraint, i think i would have liked to wait until the ceremony to see my FH, and take the opportunity of the time between the ceremony and reception to take family pics.
follow your instinct...everything will turn out fine.

Re: CH..to be there or not?
You can do both!
We had time between the ceremony and the cocktail hour and did all of our pictures then. We took maybe 15 minutes worth of pictures at the cocktail hour- BP not needed, just a few parent/Grandparent/aunt uncle shots...
We ate a bit in the private cocktail and then went to the regular cocktail hour- we were able to greet most of our guests so that we would not have to spend a whole lot of time at the reception going around to each table.
We wanted to eat the cocktail hour food, enjoy every minute of the wedding, see guests, all that money spent, we didnt want to miss anything
We still did the grand entrance...why not?

Re: CH..to be there or not?
I originally didn't want to be there but in the end was for alittle while and I regret not getting out there for the entire thing.
ETA: It was so much fun walking around talking with everyone and you still get that 'big entrance' when you're announced for the dinner reception.

Re: CH..to be there or not?
I don't want to see FH before the wedding so we are definitely missing at least part of the CH, but we'll see how fast the photographers can snap some photos... I'm hoping since I'm having a second photojounalism photographer that our posing photograhper won't need us for as long. I want to taste some of that yummy food during my CH and see my ice sculpture.

Re: CH..to be there or not?
we did our pics before and i wouldnt have had it any other way! we were able to enjoy CH with our family and friends and we managed to greet everyone so we didnt have to spend time during the reception going table to table! it was fun to mingle and enjoy the steel drummer. we still made a grand entrance into the reception as it was the first time we were introduced as a mr and mrs!

Re: CH..to be there or not?
We are looking forward to our cocktail hour. We are leaving plenty of time between the church and the CH so we can attend. Your paying for it, and the food is soooooo good, why not attend it? You still get that grand entrance into the reception. think about it. more time to socialize with everyone.

I want to be at my CH. I am going to leave time between the ceremony and the CH to take pictures so I can be there the whole time. I want to use that time to say hello to people and mingle that way I don't have to walk around during my reception saying hello to people and I can just enjoy the party!
