We are looking for a church to get married in suffolk county. We checked 2 so far (the ones we went to when we were younger) and they wont marry us because my fiance never made his confirmation. Can we get married at any church in Suffolk? Do you have to belong to the church? If we can't find a church and wont be having a reception, where else can we get married? Thank you so much in advance for your feedback. These boards are the best!

My fiance and I are getting married at St. Thomas Moore Parish in Hauppauge. It's a Catholic church. I never made my Communion or Confirmation, also we don't belong to the church either. Check them out.

Did you check the officiant page of this site. They may have a chapel available. Also, there are Uniterian Churches that may welcome your wedding.

I attend the Parish of the Holy Cross in Ronkonkoma. My fiance was never confirmed. Our Priest, Father Bill, is honestly the most open, warm man I have ever meet. He does not preach, tell you what to do or throw the gospel at you. He talks to you. You may want to give him a call. Also, which ever Parish you live in (Call the NY Diocese and ask) MUST marry you as long as you are baptized. It is your right as a bapitzed Catholic. They cannot turn you away with made-up rules.

you can get married at your hall, at a park, at the beach, Montauk Point...the options are endless...If you really want a church, what about a Unitarian Church?

We are in the same situation as you and your fiance. Neither of us have been confirmed nor do we have family that are members of a church on LI. I spoke with Father Bill at the Holy Cross in Nesconset (Nichols Rd.) and I agree he is so nice and approachable. Father Bill did tell me that if you don`t have family that are members there, you or your parents need to be in the church`s district. My parents do live in the district (down the block from the church), but they did not have my date available. I had luck at two other churches. St. Joseph`s in Ronkonkoma, and St. Thomas More in Hauppauge. The only thing we needed was proof of baptism. Both parishes were very flexible and accommodating. In the end we chose St. Thomas More because they do an 11:00 ceremony, where St. Joseph`s is a 10:30. Good luck!Welcome New Vendors
