ok so im about to call my church to see if certain dates are available...

how do i ask? lol im nervous

I called and said I'd like to speak with someone about planning my wedding. They asked what dates I had in mind, so I let them know. They wrote it all down and then had the priest call me back. When we went to meet with the priest for the first time, he 'officially' put us in the calendar.

I've been told that some churches get mad if you book the hall first. I don't know if you booked your hall yet, but if you did, you might not want to let them know! When I wanted to book my church, I called and asked if the date was available- they took down our name and then I went in with a deposit.

i just finished talking to my church and i think i made the terrible mistake of telling them my date lol she's like 'oh no honey you don't want to tell us your date yet' lol so i guess i wouldn't know how to answer this question lol

yea i am reallllly set on my church so i have to work around their schedule.. which already effed me on having a wedding during off peak months

theres only 2 dates possible in the entire yr of 2010 for my hall.

but im still hall shopping. if i get a fkn wrinkle cuz of stress from wedding planning i will NOT be a happy camper

Its true, some churches do get mad if you book the RH first, so tell them you started planning and would like to know if some dates are available b4 you book the rh. Usually the priest will call you back, sometimes it takes days for them to get back to you but they will.

That's true. Originally I was looking to book for Sept or Oct of this year. But it wasn't happening, as there were no RH's available. So then I called the church and told them June 2010 and said that the hall I wanted had June 5 open. Once I confirmed the date with my church, I called and booked the RH.

And yes, they do take time to call back. I was harrassing my priest for like a week before he finally got back to me

the church was the first thing we booked. we made an appointment with the priest whose marrying us and then he asked some questions, then he said 'alright what date are you looking at' he put it in the book and said 'alright we probably won't see you till pre cana time!' and that was it! it was pretty stress free i was happy! haha, that was just my experience....good luck it will be fine!

lol Barb i lost sleep over picking a RH thats the worstttttttt part of planning lol... also i told the deacon last night about WM lol he ddnt say anything .... but i was scared to tell him we lived together and FH def slipped it out.. lol he goes thats ok... lol n kept it moving

i would call and just let them kno you want to talk to a priest about planning a wedding. usually the priest holds the calendar book for safe keeping, so its not even worth (IMO) to ask the receptionist. just wait till the priest calls you and make a meeting ASAP. usually they dont take dates over the phone without first going thru the questions and talking to you and FH.
