I'm a little nervous. Tonight I have my first meeting with the priest from my church. I booked the RH before checking with the church to make sure they have that date available. I know the church hates when you don't put them first. I really hope they have the date I want. Does anyone know what kinds of questions the priest asks you when you go? I know we have to do pre-cana, I'm just nervous about going tonight.

Don't be nervous! I think every priest is different, but FH and I had a good meeting with the priest at the church we're getting married in. We booked the RH first, but he didn't ask about that. He also didn't ask if we were living together. What I remember him asking is the standard stuff, if we both consented to the marriage, if we plan to raise our children Catholic, etc. I don't think you have to worry!

Re: Church
Two of my friends who have gotten married in the catholic church booked their reception first and then told the priest that they had not done that because they were concerned that the priest would be offended that the church was not done first and it worked out for them. I am getting married in the greek church and booked the reception first and our priest did not seem to care that they were not booked first.

Maybe it depends on the priest. I know a few people that have gotten married in my catholic church told me not to say anything about the RH and also when we booked the RH, she also told us not to tell the church. I would have liked to book the church first but unfortunately the dates at the RH were booking fast. FH and I weren't so concerned about the date but we wanted the wedding to be in May or June.

I think that is the best bet. And if the date is not available at our church we will have to look for another church. Keeping my fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly so I can progress with the rest of my planning!

Let us know how it goes tonight! I've heard some weird stories about meetings with priests too, but most of the time I think it goes pretty smoothly!

Although we have yet to meet with the priest and confirm the date we did book the church first. At the church we are getting married at they tell you on their website to book the church 6 months before the wedding and took book the church before the RH. I called and the priest i spoke to have us in the book for that day and we just got to call back next year and go in to confirm our date and meet with them. I booked the Church on a Friday and that Sunday we were still venue shopping and found our venue and booked it that Monday.

Yay!! Church went well. We were able to book for the date we wanted. The priest didn't even ask if we had gone to look at reception halls. Now I can continue my planning. Next up, booking a photographer!!
