Re: church and officiant fees - too $$$????
I'm not surprised. One friend's church wanted $750 for parishoners and $1,250 for non-parishoners. The other friend $1,500 for parishoners, $2,750 for NON-parishioners and you have to use their wedding coordinators. I think it's sad that a sacrament has a price tag. My church is $300 for parishoners and $500 for non, and I think they are the cheapest I've heard around - - I think average is $500.

We're getting married in Southampton
not exactly sure what the sexton does - all I know is that I have to arrange the rehearsal through him & he coordinates with the florist for any church decorations

WOW thats alot of $$$
Our church charged us $100 for the organist, $50 for the Soloist, $50 for the Sexton. Then we made a donation to the church.

Re: church and officiant fees - too $$$????
the Sexton is the person that helps with the organiation for the wedding party, makes sure that people are being seatd on the right side of the church, he was the one that ran the rehersal. Our Sexton was also the clean up guy.

we paid $200 for the church, and 200 for the church musicians. So total to our parish was $400.

I thought my church was expensive..

Re: church and officiant fees - too $$$????
My church will run me MUCH MORE THAN THAT - that is with - the minimum with the flowers - we have to get our flowers thru the altar guild - minimun of 100$ but it usually runs much more than that.
This is the breakdown: **Gift shall be made $1,500 suggested MINIMUM **Officiating priest - $350 **Organist $200- w/out rehearsal - but if you have a rehearsal at the church or a soloist you must have him at the rehearsal so that is an additional $100 **if you have a soloist ($125) **FLowers minimum of $100 **Verger $150 - he/she works as your wedding coordinator **Service Leaflet (which we apparently need to get $50) **Pew Candles - required- $100 **Sexton (church maintaince/cleaner) $100 ******$300 deposit - it is ONLY refundable if EVERYONE in YOUR WEDDING PARTY and your family is ON TIME for the Rehearsal and wedding - you lose 100$ for every 15 mins late-
HMMM that seems to be me over 2,500 for the church

That is a lot of money.. My church, officiant and organist all came to $400 and we are not part of that church. If we want to order flowers for the church for the alter it is an additional $40 a piece.

My church is $500. We had to leave a $100 deposit that is refundable on the day of the wedding 'IF' things run smoothly and on time (on time according to the church)
The organist is $50 or $100 dollars, I dont remember.

Re: church and officiant fees - too $$$????
Since I am getting married in my church where I am a very active parishioner, it is costing my $300 (that includes organist too). I did not need to leave a deposit.
