Church and your wedding dress?(w/ pic)

Will the church really have something to say if I wear a strapless dress? Because the dress is bought and paid for and it is strapless and now someone at work thinks that the priest or church could actually send you away because its not appropriate? Is this true? (Its a catholic church, just to let you know)

I attached pic of dress, I dont think its inappropriate for church.

I have heard that this happens once in a while. You need to contact your church and find out their views on bare shoulders.

We just went to a wedding where the bride was told she had to wear a coverup. So she just bought a beautiful chiffon shrug. It looked great.

I dont think it will be an issue - you will have a veil on right? that covers you alittle bit. I didnt have any issues with my church and my dress was strapless - my church tends to make an issue out of certain things and it was ok.

Re: Church and your wedding dress?(w/ pic)

some do say no but i think most are ok - it is a typical dress now adays

most will allow you to get around the rule with a shawl or above the elbow gloves

best to ask your church

Re: Church and your wedding dress?(w/ pic)

It is not a trashy dress, if it is a strict church, you may need a shawl. Call & ask before you buy your veil, you can plan that around having a shawl if you need one.

Re: Church and your wedding dress?(w/ pic)

I will be wearing a veil that does hang on my shoulders. I just dont want to wear a shawl bc it will cover it up and its going to be June. I dont think they are very strict I just thought of it bc someone at work mentioned it.

So you think its better to ask the church ahead of time or just show up that day and what will they do send me away? No right! Can they do that?

Re: Church and your wedding dress?(w/ pic)

ask the church now- you don't want to br stressing about this from now until your wedding

most churches are fine

it is a church and mattering how mean your priest i guess they could send you away- some churches really are strict about following rules

Re: Church and your wedding dress?(w/ pic)

I am getting married in a catholic church and they never said anything about a strapless dress. I think you will be fine, but maybe call them and find out, each church may be different!

Re: Church and your wedding dress?(w/ pic)

I got married in a strapless dress.

I also thought I would have to wear something to cover my shoulders (that is what they say)

I think it all depends on the priest. If he wants it. So yes check with your church ask him.
