Church ceremony

So we are thinking of having a religious ceremony for our parents.

Do any of you ladies know on average how much it would cost to get married at a church?

Or to have the priest come to the RH for a religious ceremony there?

Are you getting married in a Roman Catholic Church?

There is a 'donation' you are told to give aka fee ('donation' to the church, organist, singer, altar servers, etc.) which is a few hundred dollars.
If you are a member of the particular parish the amount is a little cheaper than if you are a non-member... but not by much.

Roman Catholic priests are not allowed to perform marriage ceremonies outside of the church walls. So if you had a ceremony at your RH, it would need to be done by a minister, etc.

Church ceremony

It really depends on the parish (if you're Catholic). Some can charge up to and around $1,000 if you're a non-parishioner.

You also have to factor in Pre-Cana and FOCCUS fees.

Church ceremony

You can try the United Methodist Church. They are cheaper than the Catholic church and less rules (no pre cana or foocus)

Church ceremony

I am paying 500 and I am not a parishioner at the Church, it was my grandmothers and that includes music and the full mass. I think my actual parish charges 750 for everything. Depends on the Church

Church ceremony

If I wanted to get married at my church it would have been $750. There were also some fees for the organ player I think?
As mentioned, a priest cannot marry you outside of a church!

Church ceremony

Ours is going to be about 700 with music, not including precana. Personally, just my opinion, a Catholic ceremony shouldn't be something you do for your parents. I would definitely consider using a religious official that means something to your and FH. There are so many options!

Church ceremony

Ours is a $500 donation and $300 for the music (optional). We started pre-cana last week and as far as I know, we don't have any fees for that and didn't have to pay for the FOCCUS test.

I totally agree. We almost did the same, I told my mom and she said she prefer we do what is in our hearts rather than to appease our parents.

Church ceremony

thanks ladies
It's not necessarily that I would only do it for my parents, its also that he's stationed in California. So for him to come out here for the precana would be hard and expensive. So I'm thinking of all possible options.

Its a Roman catholic church and its where i did my 3 sacraments so maybe it wont be too expensive.

I'm going to talk to them either this weekend or next.

Church ceremony

My fee is $250 to get married at my parish (catholic) and $195 for the Pre-cana. It depends on the parish and what their fee is. It also depends on the parish (strict or not) if you want them to go elsewhere to reform at the ceremony. My friend is Greek and her husband is catholic. When she got married, the priest from his parish was able to go to her Greek Orthodox church and share the ceremony.
