Is everyone having flowers at the church? I decided against them b/c I thought it was a waste of money for 45 minutes. Now I'm wondering if the church will look so 'blah'

Re: Church Flowers
I'm wondering the same thing. At first I wanted to do candles or something, but just found out my church doesn't allow them! I was thinking of doing two branchy arrangements on either side of the altar. You can always bring them to the RH afterwards to use again!

Re: Church Flowers
i think im going to get a fake arrangement from michaels. no one touches church flowers since they are on the alter, so it wont be obviously fake

Re: Church Flowers
I had them on my list.. then for monetary reasons we removed them.
What we did keep were 2 winter urns for the front by where we stand... so there is at least something (this also will come back to the reception with us so it's being re-used that day). FMIL made pew bows for us... so we will have that as well.
i dont think you need too much in the church... sure it's nice but it's not totally necessary (most churches are elaborate by themselves)... focus on the reception area instead... that's where you will def get more bang for your buck.
My wedding is in 1 week... so check out my church pics when I have them.

Re: Church Flowers
Our church I feel is beautiful the way it is, so I am not planning on putting flowers on the altar.
I am going to do pew decorations, just haven't decided what.

Re: Church Flowers
we are undecided. when we first saw the Church it was set up for a wedding so it was hard to see how it regularly looks. i am going to go back to look at it & see how it looks then decide if we need to purchase something extra. although with the wedding 3 weeks after Easter it may still have Easter flowers. i will have to ask.

Re: Church Flowers
Maybe something like this, no flowers just branches to kind of outline the aisle. We'll see!
I was told by my florist that branches are hard because some churches don't allow them. The branches can scratch the pews... so they can be strick about it sometimes.

Re: Church Flowers
I'm doing pew bows and I think that's it. My florist recommended not to bother with an altar arrangement.

I'm not doing church flowers either. I'd rather have more at the RH for whatever it would cost for church flowers.

Re: Church Flowers
After neg. I ended up getting 2 arrangments for the alter and pew bows. Hopefully they can transport those arrangements to the hall for cocktail hour. I should check that out lol.

Re: Church Flowers
i'm actually the complete opposite here! i wanted to SPLURGE on flowers for the church versus the reception! my take was that i want the church to be breathtaking because that's the focal point of my wedding, not the food or band or whatever that will take place at the reception. FI and I had a huge row about this but i ultimately came to some senses and lowered my plan down a bit.
we're doing 2 beautiful, big, arrangements at the altar since this is what people are mostly going to notice (aside from us and the minister of course!) and because it is up front. this will also be transported to the reception hall after the ceremony. we're then putting in simple flower arrangements for every few rows. our church is beautiful enough as it is but i always pictured myself walking down the aisle with flowers lining my way. i think it's a good compromise with FH.
Jenna_and_John: i originally wanted one like the photo you posted but one florist that we went to pointed out that the people's view of the couple might get obstructed. in our case, this was true, so branches/tall arrangements are out.

Re: Church Flowers
I am probably going to have two floral arrangements, pew bows, two floral arches and hopefully a custom aisle runner with flower petals along the sides if the church allows it.
