Is everyone having flowers at the church? I decided against them b/c I thought it was a waste of money for 45 minutes. Now I'm wondering if the church will look so 'blah'
I'm getting alter arrangements from a regular florist, not mentioning wedding at all. And I bought silk flowers to use for the pew decorations.

i'm actually the complete opposite here! i wanted to SPLURGE on flowers for the church versus the reception! my take was that i want the church to be breathtaking because that's the focal point of my wedding, not the food or band or whatever that will take place at the reception. FI and I had a huge row about this but i ultimately came to some senses and lowered my plan down a bit.
we're doing 2 beautiful, big, arrangements at the altar since this is what people are mostly going to notice (aside from us and the minister of course!) and because it is up front. this will also be transported to the reception hall after the ceremony. we're then putting in simple flower arrangements for every few rows. our church is beautiful enough as it is but i always pictured myself walking down the aisle with flowers lining my way. i think it's a good compromise with FH.
Jenna_and_John: i originally wanted one like the photo you posted but one florist that we went to pointed out that the people's view of the couple might get obstructed. in our case, this was true, so branches/tall arrangements are out.
You're right, I thought of that. I'm going to bring pictures to the florist and discuss, thanks!

Re: Church Flowers
I am doing two arrangements of burnt orange roses in gold vases on each side of the altar in my church. My church is very old world, rustic, with the old style marble altar.
I kinda agree that flowers are a waste at the church, but I saw the orange roses on the altar at mass one week and thought they looked beautiful, so I had to get them.

Re: Church Flowers
We are doing bows and flowers on the pews and something on the alter! But my dad is a florist and FH works for a wholesale florist so we have to go all out when it comes to flowers!!!

I also like these for the pews.
I love this look a lot!!!! It is simple and beautiful and not so full of tulle....I am not a tulle fan for pew bows..

Re: Church Flowers
Im getting flowers and bows on every other pew, 2 floral arrangements and veil to decorate the outside of the church. Once church is over, someone will take the floral arrangements to the rh.

Re: Church Flowers
we're not! our church says its not necessary b/c they usually have their own flowers around... maybe we'll put up somthing of our own - but i doubt it. My church is pretty w/o flowers anyways!

Re: Church Flowers
We are getting tool draping and flowers with the pew bows...And then we are having four large orchid arrangements at the altar where we will be standing...My church is big and I need to bring the attention down to us so everyone's eyes wont be wandering
o and then they will be transferred to the reception

Hmm, not sure. Will see how much it will cost when we meet with the florist.

Re: Church Flowers
We're not having church flowers. We're just going to have DIY pew bows.

Re: Church Flowers
I'm not. Only pew bows. A florist even recommended not doing them as he sees it as a waste of money. Plus, most churches have flowers there already on the alter.

Re: Church Flowers
Possibly just pew bows...but not paying to have flowers for 30 mins.

Re: Church Flowers
At my church you can get the altar flowers for $50 any week that is available..so when we get closer I will probably make the donation and some pew bows...that's it.
