I AM IN THE SAME EXACT SITUATION!
I wanted to include this reading in our ceremony but our church also said no. I think I am just ignorant when it comes to the Catholic church.
Are you having trouble picking the 'approved' readings?
What about your songs?? I don't think anyo f the approved songs reflect what FH and I feel about each other. It's awful!

Your priest or someone at Pre-cana should have given you a copy of 'together for Life' a book that has most of the approved readings in it. you can choose from there, but you must have a reading from the old testament, a reading from the new testament and a reading from one of the 4 gospels.

Also, most of the music approved by Catholic churches are NOT love songs. All music with lyrics in a Catholic Church must be religious in nature and mention God, Jesus or Mary in the lyrics. I am a cantor, I would be more than happy to give you suggestions! good luck!

no offense to anyone on here but this is all a matter of opinion, BUT with that said, being catholic and very tied to my church, i think its disgraceful that people would deliberately go against what their churches rule is, and do something anyway that they were told they couldnt do...why get married in a church? for the nice pictures?
