Church or RH? What did you book first?

Original post by Lil OC

Just curious...did you girls book the church first and then your RH, or vice versa. We booked the RH first (a lot of dates we wanted were sold out) and FH's parents are not happy! They said the church is most important.

I just called the church today! My date is available so they put a hold on it for me. They said I don't have to come in or anything until February-ish since the wedding is Dec 2010. Is that normal?

the church SHOULD be booked first, b/c without the church, there will be no ceremony!!! also, the chrch doesnt like to hear that you booked your hall first, idk why,...we booked our hall first but didnt volunteer the info that we did when we booked our church.

the church doesnt like to hear that you booked the RH first, because they think youre not taking the ceremony and religion seriously... i cant say i blame them...

we put a hold on date at the RH, then booked the church and went back and officially booked the RH

this is what we did too...

we found out what dates they had available in the month we wanted at the RH then we put a hold on 1 then booked the church and went back to RH and booked our date!

I booked the church first because that was the most important to me. I'm glad I did because they only had 2 time slots available for my date.

This made it easier looking for reception halls. Also, my ceremony is at 11 and many RH only would begin my CH at 12, which didn't work so I had to make sure to find a RH that would be more flexible and start later.
