Re: church question

They basically ask to make sure you're not related. About children and such.

Re: church question

They didn't ask us anything to personal. He needed our info about parents names, place of baptism, etc. He took us both aside separately to make sure we weren't being abused or didn't have anything to say that we couldn't in front of the other. He also went over how much it would be and all that....nothing to worry about

Re: church question

I was worried too when we first meet with them. I was thinking that he was gonna ask us alot of personal questions but they never once asked. Mine was long compare to everyone else cause he said if someone could sit in the meeting with us who was doing training. Liz you guys have nothing to worry about.

Re: church question

Ours was simple -- they asked nothing personal. The most personal they got was asking if we intended to have children and would we raise them Catholic.

There were a lot of 'where did you make your baptism? communion? confirmation?' questions.

I was nervous too, it is normal. They didn't let us do precana until the session right before our wedding though. We finished precana in December for a March wedding.

Re: church question

he talked with us a bit, seperated us and asked us questions like: had either of us ever been to counseling? so when i said yes b/c i went to see a grief counselor after my friend was killed he goes, oh that doesn't really count i was looking for any mental hospital stints (his exact words LOL only concerned if i'm a NUT job, i was like WOW ok then FATHER hahaha)

then he asked where i had my baptism, he asked if both of my parents were catholic (i lied and said yes even tho only mom is, dad is lutheran), then he asked if FH and I were related to each other so I said i hope not!! (he didn't find that funny at all, tuff crowd lol), he asked if we had ever been married before or divorced, he asked if i was aware of anything with FH like alcohol abuse/gambling/ drug use etc. and then if i did that stuff, and that's about all i can remember...

his main concern was that i wouldn't be throwing rose petals b/c they didn't want to have to clean it up lol... then he was like ok you need to pay this, blah blah blah and we were all set haha... he also goes over pre-cana which we did at another church and just gave him the certificate for it.

not too bad, i was waiting for the pre-marital relations question which didn't come but i did get the 'are you living together' so i lied AGAIN and said no, i'm going to hell btw haha

Re: church question

Is this your first time meeting with him? When we went there to reserve the date, the priest just asked us basic information about our family, if we both were raised Roman Catholic, where we were baptized, where we had our confirmations, things of that nature. We haven't been to precana yet and I'm kind of scared to take this survey they give you. It has a ton of questions where you take it separately and then they go over and compare your questions to your FH questions!

Re: church question

The first time meeting with our priest was very general......where did you meet, do you have kids, are you related? ( )

They also made us take this FOCCUS test to test compatabilty! Anyway, like I said all general! We haven't done pre-cana yet.....I think that's when it gets a little more intrusive though!

Re: church question

Our priest didn't ask too much. I was worried because we live together. He really just asked us where we were baptized and confrimed and where our current parish is.He also asked about our parents' religions. He did ask how often we go to church, which was a tricky one!
He didn't ask any hard questions or anything too personal. I totally understand how you feel...i was shaking!

Re: church question

In order to book the date, we did the 'interview'

Some churhces do the interview separately...we did it otgether.

We answered, 'How did we meet? What did/do i think of FH? Best quality? where do we hope to live? Children?

the typical church interview is yes/no (but my priest wants the homily to be personal.

But, I should tell you....my priest asked me the question, 'Are you able to perform the marriage act? I thought ti was the ability to get married 9i.e walk down the aisle) How naive! (Thought you'd get a kick out of that!
