Re: church question??
If you do it at a church that you're not a member of, they usually charge more. I'm a member of my church and right now it costs $350 but they want to raise the price. Unfortunately, they don't let you pay in advance.

Re: church question??
A lot of churches don't marry non parishoners because they want to give preference to the members of the parish.
We held dates at the RH and then went to see if the church had them available so technically we booked the church first. You can do it whatever way you want but, just be careful because a lot of churches get upset if you book the RH first.
ETA: Pre Cana is either a few nights, 2 weekend days, or a weekend retreat. We didn't have to speak in front of the group, just to each other. Price varies based on whether you take it through the church or through the diocese (through your church is usually less expensive).

Re: church question??
I am getting married at my childhood church which I grew up with as a child. I now live in another town but they did not mention anything to me about not living in the parish community anymore. I know that the cost is $300 to use the church and that is for anyone who lives or does not live within the parish community and they charge $50 for pre-cana.
