Does anyone have a wedding scheduled right after them? We are getting married at 3 and there is another wedding at 4:30. FH is still undecided on whether or not he would like a full mass. I also don't know how to decide on flowers. I feel that the other bride will be having her florist come in while we are still there to set up. Are the weddings scheduled too close?

Re: Church Question
I don;t think you should have to compromise a full mass because thechurch wants to schedule another wedding at 4:30. I feel it's the church's problem.
My church spaces weddings out every 2 hours.

Re: Church Question
That sounds like it is ridiculously close together.
My church has weddings normally at 11, 1 and 3, but since hardly anyone get married in the church anymore, the only thing we are competing against is a set of baptisms that may or may not occur at 1pm (we are having our mass at 3) and then the 5pm vigil mass, but that won't be a huge problem, I don't think.
If you are concerned about the flowers and decorations, maybe ask your parish if you can find out who the other bride is and get in touch about sharing costs?
But I would think the larger concern is if you decide you do want a mass, that they would be arriving while you are still there, and I would think you'd want to avoid that.

Re: Church Question
What day of the week is your wedding? My church told us that on friday's they only have one wedding (usually 4 or 5pm) and Saturday's they have 2, one early and one in the afternoon. You shouldn't have to be rushed out for the next wedding to take place.

Re: Church Question
our church has a policy that all wedding participants must be off the property as of 90 min past the scheduled start of the ceremony... that goes for both full mass and ceremony-only weddings...
But that does not mean another group can invade our space during that 90 min period. I have no idea about the logistics with the second wedding's florist... It DOES sound like it's cutting it close....

Re: Church Question
oh, I'll add that you can control the length of your full mass by selecting shorter prayers and readings... and maybe forgoing the optional portions.... Our priest said it would be about 45 min for a full mass since we're doing that...

Re: Church Question
That's a good idea. Full mass is still up for discussion. FH really wants it.
