church question..
I went to my church today and they do not have our date open.
the priest gave us a bunch of other date options, not knowing we already booked the reception venue for 4/26. My question is, do you need permission from your church to get married in a different Catholic Church (that neither the bride or groom belong to)?

church question..
I'm not familiar with the Catholic church, but in my faith, we always asked the pastor's blessing if we wanted to attend a different church for a period of time. You can maybe, have your priest speak with the other church. Ask for his blessings to get married at another church. If that doesn't work, can you change your date at the venue? Have you sent out STDs or anything?

2013er crashing. You shouldn't need permission to get married in another church. But there may be a higher 'donation' for getting married there.

No you don't. We are getting married at St. Dominic's in Oyster Bay & although FH is an alumni there, we are not parishioners there but we are at another church.

You don't, but you may pay a higher fee for being a non-parishioner.

church question..
Of the 2 churches I contacted the one church told me that since my FH is zoned for the other parish they would have to get a letter from the other parish okaying them to perform the ceremony. I honestly think it goes by the church and their rules and decisions.

I don't believe you need permission, however, there are some churches that won't let you get married there unless you're a member of their parish. We were worried we wouldn't get our date so we checked with St. Catherine's in Franklin Square as well as my church and St. Catherine's said that they would allow it because most of my family got married there, but that normally they're very strict on their policy. The same holds true for FH's church.Good luck!!

church question..
I work for a catholic school so I'm getting married at the affiliated church because I personally do not like my parish. Rule of thumb is you book the church first. I myself didn't do this simply because I knew my church had the date and they were setting it I the side because I am an employee. Typically what will happen is another church will ask one of you to become a member of that parish. Donations could be higher as well. additionally some parishes will not marry you at all if you are not a member regularly attending mass ( only heard of 3 thus far) my advice try your fhs parish next and if not then start looking elsewhere. The church may very well have your date however churches limit themselves to 10 weddings a year partly due to the fact the wedding is actually a loss for them. Example my church I'm getting married at that I work for looses money on a wedding. Their fee is 675, now 125 pays the singer, 125 pays the organist, and the rest goes to the school . So they make nothing off of it. If there is no school affiliated they use it simply for operating costs. I don't know if my church is close by but try st Joseph's in ronkonkoma!
good luck to you!!!!!

church question..
We are getting married in a Catholic Church. My FH did not grow up attending that Church and our priest did not give us a hard time about it. He will need documentation from his church though as proof of him receiving the various sacraments... I guess to prove that he is Catholic lol.

Re: church question..
We want to get married at FHs church because he went to school there and his family is still heavily involved in that church. Wen I called to talk to the priest he told me I needed 'permission' from my church before he would pencil us in.I think it really depends on the church you plan to wed at.
Either way, getting permission shouldn't be an issue since they don't have your date avail.
Good luck!!
