I am almost positive but I believe it is ONLY the Catholic Church that does not marry couples ANYMORE on Sundays. I am only saying this because all of my aunts got married on Sundays in the same church I am about to get married in and once I went to talk to them about it they said they changed the rules and no longer have weddings on a Sunday. (Something about the time slots interfering with actual Masses.) Did you check to see if the time you wanted to get married conflicted with their Sunday church times for Mass?

And do not stress about Pre-Cana, FH and I are doing it in December and it's not going to make a difference one way or another, it just has to get done eventually.

Have you two considered a Thursday or Friday night wedding at all? From all the places I looked at, Fridays were the same prices as Sundays and I know that you will not have a problem with the Church marrying you on a Friday

V, Keep in mind also that not all parishes are the same. Some are far more strict than others. They are easily offended when couples come in and want to work their wedding around a reception hall. They feel that you should set up the church first because it's more important.
Try not to let them bother you too much....when it comes down to it...I have a feeling they will come around for you. I'd hate to see this stress you out too much

So sorry that this happened to you. It sucks that Church's have to be this way. not all of them are but Church is supposed to be a welcoming place and for you to decide to get married in church they should only be welcoming and nice to you. Especially since this is the church you have been going to for such a long time. You didn't deserve for him to speak to you in that manner. you should definitely speak to the father and let him know how you feel and how he made you feel. See what can be worked out and if they still treat you this way, I would really start to look into another Church that will treat you better. Don't be discouraged I am sure things will work out one way or another.

This is sucky but its not unheard of. Like another bride said some Churches are alot more strict about getting married on Sunday b/c it can mess up their mass schedule.

I also agree - maybe a Thursday or Friday wedding would be great for you guys. You will still get the cheaper cost per plate and I am sure they can fit you in at the Church on one of those days.

Push back on the RH's and check their schedule - I am getting married in a church that has meaning to me so I totally understand. Therefore your only choice is to move things around w/ the RH.

And when i first called the rectory - we waited almost 2 weeks until we were able to finally sit with the priest. I would def approach them after sunday mass and explain the situation. I have heard so many different things, each parish is different I guess..BUT there are plenty of people that get married on a Sunday!!! I'm so sorry that you are going through this..what if you switched your church? Find out about some of the girls' positive experiences at churches near you?

not all churchs do weddings on sundays... thats just the way it is. why dont you be flexible with the date- see if those halls have sat day in october- sat and sunday prices arent that different. if you want to stick to that church you may have to be flexible.

There is a BIG difference between Saturday and Sunday....
When we were checking out the Halls, most of the days were already booked on Saturday.

If I were you and you really want a Sunday wedding get married at your reception hall by an officiant who does ceremonies.

Sometimes the church can be very difficult that is why there were some that we decided not to go to at all.. It can be just as beautiful in hall!!

For us, It woudl be a Sin and completely disrespectful NOT to get married in a Church. We want to do this the right way (which for us this is the right way) In the Altar, In front of God and getting the Priest to Marry us...

Veronica im going to be honest with you. St. Marthas is greedy and unless they have stacks of envelopes in their hands with your name on it ( and they do keep track. My sister needed A letter from them to be my nephews godmother and they told her they wouldnt write on bc she didnt donate enough and made her go to mass and give even more) they wont look at you twice. Also if you told them about looking at reception halls first they feel insulted that you didnt ask them first. Its stuff like this that makes me ashamed to be catholic! Good luck to you sweetheart i really hope they let you do it.

The only rule I know of in the church with sunday weddings is that the ceremony needs to take place after sunday masses have happened, so usually sometime around 1. Other than that I've never heard of such an issue!! I'm sorry! Hope everything works out

That's why we said, We coudl have ceremony around 2-3 Pm becuse THEY even said it 'We are done at 1:00 from Masses.'

We really want this church.. we always go here...
but we are scare our dates will b taken in RH...
Thursday/Friday will not be possible... not only for our guest but specially for our parents. Our parents have very strick jobs during the weekday and cannot get days off unless like UR REALLY REALLY SICK...
