For those of you getting married at a church, have any of you been told by the church that you and your bridal party have to cover their shoulders while inside the church? My dress is strapless and i am stressing about this!

Re: church weddings
My church didn't require this. But I've heard that some churches do.

Re: church weddings
My church didn't have this restriction, but I know other churches do. Our priest even mentioned it....

Re: church weddings
i have heard of this. i would absolutely make sure about anything and if need be find another church. I guess it depends on how strict the church is...my friend got married in a church that had this as a rule & wore strapless anyway..so i dunno. but i would definetly make sure!

theres quite a few catholic churches that do tell you this...mine allows strapless dresses, but if your church says no then i dont think theres much that can be done

Re: church weddings
Alot of BM dresses come w/wraps. Your BM's can wear them for just the church and then just wear the dress for the reception.
I have heard of this but Im not sure if personally my church requires this...If you feel really strongly about not wearing wraps or anything look for another church that you feel comfortable in.

Re: church weddings
i have heard of this... and honestly, it's easily fixed... i got the girls wraps...they loved them! (part of their gift) also, i wore a strapless gown, butit was not a big deal.... my veil was long and ended up covering my shouldesr to a degree.
my church never mentioned it, but they did ask that it be 'appropriate' i.e. keep the girls covered, NO cleavage.

Re: church weddings
My cousins church had the same rule.
You could always get a cute little jacket (i cant think of what their called) you know the ones that just cover your shoulders? Anyway, you could always take it off after the ceremony.

But what if you have to/want to wear a strapless gown, then you cant unless you carry a shawl around???

My cousin's church had this, we all had wraps so it wasn't a big deal.... My church hasn't said anything about this so I guess I should ask!

Re: church weddings
I actually have heard this before, but I also know that people ignore them and wear what they want. When you show up the day of your wedding in a strapless gown the priest is not going to send you home . . .

Re: church weddings
I had never heard of this before either. My church never said anything to me about it and my girls wore strapless. Even if your dress has some kind of thin straps your shoulders would still be exposed so are they meaning they want a complete sleve?

you wear a shawl or something to cover yourself during the ceremony. It depends on how strict the church is

Re: church weddings
Some churches lean towards the conservative and require the women to at least have their shoulders covered. Usually women go around this by wearing a shawl or even a pretty bolero for the ceremony.
