Excuse the pun but, 'holy' cow! I had no idea the church would be that much! I am very naive I guess! I happen to be going to the church tonight with FH so at least now I 'll know what to expect!

The priest said they like to keep the donation down and that we should thank the Bingo ladies for being able to do so lol

Yes, the amount of tithing, other sources of income for the church, etc. etc. factors in to what the church needs to ask for a donation for the wedding. A Church relies on the donations of its parishoners to stay running as well as providing outreach services to the community.
This topic has been brought up before and I still say if you're going to complain about giving the church some money, go get married at the hall or somewhere else. it's the least a bride a can do as she celebrates the Sacrament of Marriage. I don't get it... some girls on this site whine about giving the Church $500.00 but will spend thousands of dollars on flowers or well over $200.00 ahead for a meal...doesn't make sense to me.....Again I feel if you can't prioritize $500.00 out of the thousands you're spending, you should get married somewhere else.

$525 plus $80 for Focus and Pre-cana. We are bringing in a singer and aren't having any alter boys/girls. We are adding a violinist for $125

i am not having a mass FH would kill me, i am lucky to have it at church, he was very uncomfortable with that at first, but then he saw that it was important to me so he agreed, i couldn't put him through a whole mass
