Churches with less restrictions

Churches with less restrictions

FH and I went to St. Joseph's in Babylon the other day for our 1st meeting...and they have so many rules with decorating, music, etc. We want to be able to have the flower girls drop petals and have tulle down the pews, both of which St. Joes doesn't allow.

Anyone know of churches that will allow this?

my chruch does not allow this either! they say no runners, the flower girl cant throw flowers, and your not suppose to throw rose petals at the end!

we are going to try to sneak rose petals at the end tho! lol

i got married at st josephs, yes they are strict, but I found that so many churches are strict in similar ways. many churches no longer allow petals to be thrown, due to people slipping and falling - i know St. Joes had a lawsuit/claim brought against them for that. Would you use bubbles instead?
How are they being strict w/ the music? We used theirs, but I know you can bring in someone from the outside.
unless the no tulle on the pews rule is new, we had it on ours, and that was only 6 mos ago.
Good luck, but i really think you are going to encounter many of the same restrictions is other churches.

tulle pic for you.

I'm using St Joe's too, but didn't realize they had so many restrictions . . . I may have been too overwhelmed with all the info they gave us to even notice lol! I'm kinda bummed to hear about the rose petals, but it's not the end of the world. I hope they allow tulle and I'd kinda like a aisle runner, anyone know if they allow that?

I am getting married at the RH so I don't have restrictions but I will say that you prob won't miss the petals and stuff the day off. Bubbles take great pics at the end and I haven't heard of a church saying no to that.

They allow tulle, just not scalloped along the pews, only pew bows. The tulle was the least of my concerns, but it was something I wanted. As for the music, it's $200 WHETHER OR NOT we use their music, which I thought was a little ridiculous. They gave us a cd of their music to listen to, but I really just hate the organ. Even if I hired a singer or someone to play an instrument, it needs to be approved by St. Joes and I still need to pay the $200 fee.

I wanted to use Ave Maria, and I prefer a man singing it, and the woman is only available at St. Joes.

I'm disappointed to hear no aisle runner, but oh well. One thing about the bubbles . . . My cousin was just married this May and had everyone blow bubbles as they left the church. I don't know if people spilled, dripped or bubbles just happen to pop on her dress, but the mother of the bride wound up with her dress stained due to the bubbles. Just a word of caution. They do look nice, but be careful! I'm definitely not having them.

I used bubbles at my wedding in may and NO ONE had stains.....I know a bunch of people who used bubbles and no stains.....its just soap and water so Im not sure why it would stain.

I should clarify, I don't know if the dress was permanently stained, but it left very noticeable marks on her dress that were there even after the liquid dried. I don't know if she tried to wash them out with water, I think she had a lot of other things she was concerned about that day, but I know she was very unhappy about the marks from the bubbles on her dress. It may affect different materials more so than others.
