Civil Ceremony Help

FH and I are going to be married by a judge at our RH. We are writing our own vows. The judge said we could do a sand or candle ceremony. I think I want to do the candle ceremony but I am not sure of what I need, exactly. A co-worker just bought me a beautiful candle with the 'This Day I Will Marry my Friend' quote and my name with FH's name and our wedding date. Does this get used in a candle ceremony? I thought we could buy two separate longer, skinnier candles and light the big candle together. Is that right? TIA!

Is it glass all around? If so I have the same exact thing and Yes I will be using it for the unity candle ceremony. What I'm going to do is buy 2 tapers and the holders in white to match. I'm also going to add a ribbon to match my colors.

As for the sand ceremony, I love that idea but my church wouldn't do it..

I would say do whatever catches your eyes the most and means the most to you. Search Sand Ceremony to get an idea of what happens.
GOOD LUCK!!

Oh no no no it can be whatever way you like... I just thought it was exactly the same one I had?

Unity candles come in sooo many diffrent styles. Here is some more info I googled for you...

The lighting of a unity candle is a relatively recent addition to the traditional wedding ceremony, most popular in the United States. The unity candle ceremony uses two taper candles with a large pillar candle (called the 'unity candle') in the center. At the beginning of the wedding ceremony, a representative from each family (usually the mothers of the bride and groom) light the two taper candles. Later in the ceremony (usually after the formal vows), the bride and groom use the two taper candles to light the large pillar (unity) candle together.

Often a unity candle is decorated with the wedding invitation, an inscription, a picture of the couple, or other ornamentation. The candles are almost always white. The lighting ceremony may be accompanied by special music, an explanation of the symbolism, or just some period of mutual gazing by the happy couple. In some circles, it is customary for the couple to save the unity candle and relight it on anniversaries.

I would also buy a hurricane candle holder just incase of wind, and dont forget to bring the matches... we forgot ours so we pretended to light it.
