Someone had posted this on LIF so I started looking and I found a few things that might be my mom's and her family. Search by your family's last name, the last name and all cities in NY you have lived in and do the same for your FH and DH. I found FH's uncle on there! If you have a common last name, search by the last name then initial of first names.Unclaimed Funds in NY

ETS: This is a legit site...it's the NY State Comptroller's Office.

I actually read thru the Frequently Asked Questions on the website. It says they aren't allowed to disclose how much until we prove we are entitled to it - which sort of makes sense. We have a Notary in our office, so I will have her do it for me.

my great aunt is on there, but i dont think she'll be claiming the money considering she isnt around any longer

she still can as long as you have a death cert then you can claim it.

To answer a few questions...

Yes its a legit site, found one of my aunts old paychecks on there and she got her check within a few weeks

If the person is deceased, i believe the estate can claim it if there is one. If not, then if you have a death certificate you should be fine.

All you do is fill out the form and mail it in. Its easy to find a notary, just walk into a bank

I dont remember my aunt having to pay a fee for her money.
