Re: Classless Election Coverage 7PM STATES ARE IN
I think that every vote should count, no matter who wins. I had several friends come in to the bar tonight and tell me about having to do the provisional voting. Thoese people, no matter what party, deserve their votes to be counted.

Looks like no matter how the provisionals come in, Ohio will go to Bush = another 4 years with him.

I cant believe this nonsense again. Now Ohio is the state in question. Well at least its not Florida. Have to see what happens, I heard on the news this morning that this process may take up to 11 days.

Me too and I don't understand that. Why they didn't start counting the provisional and absentee ballots at 12AM yesterday is beyond me - they knew how important their state was going to be!!
But at this point, the Ohio Elections Chair is reporting 175,000 ballots left to be counted (contrary to Kerry's campaign's claim that there are at least a quarter million). Since he's down by 136,221 at this point, he'd have to take 77.84% of the remaining votes to win. Even if there are 1/4 million like they're saying, he'd still have to take 54.49% - he hasn't been that high in Ohio the whole count.
Looks like another four years

There's no controversy and I'd be weary of what you say about your President. What contreversy - they're just making sure that the numbers are fully true. 3.5 million vote lead in the popular vote does not translate itself into controversy.

Are you watching the news? Usually there is no discrepancy to report. And why in the world should I be weary of what I say? Are militia men from the government going to bust in here and throw me in jail...or worse? Give me a break!

I don't see this as controversy. They want to count these votes because it's so close in Ohio.

I've been up all night watching the news. There is no controversy. They will count every vote to ensure a proper outcome. How in the world is that controversy???

Because the news is saying that they are waiting for word if Kerry's camp will be challanging the outcomes. Usually when everything is A-OK that doesn't happen.

Because it is customary to wait for a concession speech from the person that did not win the election.

Actually, it's usually when everything is not so close, that doesn't happen.
There's no problem with Kerry waiting to see that every vote in a very close state is counted to make sure that he definitely didn't win but I still don't understand what you're inferring with this controversy statement. There is no controversy, just a very close election in one state. That's a good thing IMO.

Re: Classless Election Coverage 7PM STATES ARE IN
I for one am happy that they are counting all the votes in OhioLast year, one of the biggest complaints and arguments was that Gore didn't challenge hard enough and that Bush was 'appointed' This year, let them be thorough and let's have a clear cut winner
But from what I'm hearing, even with the provisionals, it's highly unlikely Kerry is winning.
But you never know

I agree! If I were Kerry I'd definitely make sure they counted them all. You never do know.
But, they just announced that he'd need 94% of the provisional votes (assuming that 100% of them can be counted, which is extremely unlikely in itself) to tie and 96% to win (I have no idea what happened to 95%
).

Re: Classless Election Coverage 7PM STATES ARE IN
Not to change the subject or anything, but most people in my office are democrats. I keep hearing so many of them say how those who have voted for Bush are uneducated idiots.
It just bothers me, thats all. I can't wait till this is over!
