I fill a cup full of water and pput it in the microwave for a minute, then I either add a little ammonia or dishwashing liquid and let my ring soak in the cup for about 5 minutes. Then I take a gentle toothbrush to it and rinse it. Good as new.
are you sure that ammonia is safe to clean a diamond with?
My Grandmother has been doing that for like 70 years and her diamond looks amazing !!! Not to worry - Palmolive also works well, I did about 500 dishes this weekend and my ring looked great !!!
My jeweler recommended the ammonia and water mix to me as the best way!

Re: Cleaning E-ring..
I soak my rings in Jewelery cleaner and then scrub the diamonds with the little brush the cleaner comes with. I rinse it then steam it using the tea kettle. I put the rings on a fork and place in near the opening and let the steam run over it for about 5 minutes then I rinse it with the hot water left over from the kettle. It sparkles like crazy.

boil it!
I have a platinum and diamond e-ring. my jeweler told me to take a piece of copper wire and loop the ring over the wire and dip the ring in boiling water for 10 minutes. I couldnt beleive that he told me to boil my ring. he told me that it is the best way and it is comperable to getting it steam cleaned. It works better than any soap, jewlery cleane, or ammonia!
