I bought jewelry cleaner which, I can tell you by the smell of it, definitely has ammonia in it! You dunk it in the tray for 10 secs, use a teeny brush on it, and then rinse off. Easy and boy does it SPARKLE!
I also had a jeweler tell me to use windex. My FMIL swears by it and her ring does always look shiny!

Warm water and a dash of some dish washing soap...let soak, brush w/a toothbrush then dry w/a clean cloth. Bling Bling!
That is the cheap quick way...................I also have a sonic cleaner w/so far is the best. Only $40 too.

My jeweler said the same thing:
boil some water with ammonia in it. when it comes to a boil, drop your ring in there for half a minute, take it out, clean it with a toothbrush, and you're good as gold.
Personally, I'd take it to the jewelery store b/c they do a better job at it. It's free too!

Normally I use jewelry cleaner with a toothbrush. When I have my cappuchino machine out...I use the steamer on that to clean it.

I registered for one...didn't get it... at BB&B $14.99 for the sonic bath and $4.99 for an 8oz sonic cleaner fluid.

I was told the same thing...ammonia and water...
But I was also told not to get the ring steamed too often because it is essentially removing a thin layer of the mineral (platinum, gold depending on your ring). That is why it always looks brand new...

Can I jsut walk into any random jewlery store (like Kay or DeBeers) and have it steamed? I don't really feel like going down to the Bowery where my ring was purchased.....

www.harborfreight.com Item #: 3305-0VGA You add warm water and the soap they supply, no harsh chemicals. I also dropped my watches in there and my glasses.
