Re: Clear Channel drops the Howard Stern show
When someone is trying to take away my right little by little, I find it repulsive. We need change.

Yea, you find that repulsive. Why don't you look at it from another view?
It's not right.
The things that go on on TV and in the movies and on the radio...THEY'RE NOT RIGHT.

Boy do I hate the country we are living in, little by littel they are trying to take away my rights.
Rights that we claim we are trying to give to other nations, we are taking away form our own citizens. This saddens me.![]()

How dare you say this. You should live in a country where you really have no rights and would not be allowed to utter such words.
But luckily we do live in a country where we can say how we feel.
At least for now

What was said was demeaning to women and racial to African Americans apparenlty. I didn't listen to it, I only ready what was said.
If there was a 5-second delay HS could have bleeped it out and he'd still be on the air. That's one of the things they are debating ... If there was a 5-second delay U2 would never had said F&^k at an awards show last year, Janet's boob would have been blurred out, and HS would have never allowed the word ni%%^r on air.
He is on a delay, and Dead Air Dave, as they call him, is there to bleep out everything bad, he even bleeps things he shouldn't, so what was said could not have been that bad, or offensive., per the normal FCC regulations.
You have FM.

I personally think the whole 'love it or leave it' attitude is Anti-American.if we 'loved it or left it' African Americans and Women still wouldn't have the vote...
sometimes change is good- sometimes government oversteps their bounds, and it is our job, as citizens to right those wrongs.

Then again, HS has been whining for years - and even more so lately - how he *wants* to be fired. If he is being censored, he has no show...imo. His show is all about pushing the envelope and seeing how far he can get away with something. Shock value. When you censor that, you've got every other show and nothing original.

You know I do, too!! I don't need some Big Brother telling me what I can and can't watch.
What I find ironic is that we are dealing with the religious fanatics all over the world, but slowly our own country is being taken over by religious fanatics.
We sure do live in scary times and I think it is getting worse daily.

I agree with Jennbaby .. I listen and watch Howard daily..outrageous or not, he is wonderfully 'Un-PC' and I appreciate that sometimes)
And agree with Becky 100%.. in light of the recent Janet thing, and now Howard.. our country really IS slowly being being taken over by religious fanatics.. I never thought I'd believe something like that could happen in this day and age, but it IS beginning to happen (and will continue to happen as long as Bush remains in office)

I agree…things are getting scary. And while I personally don’t listen to HS, I don’t feel I have any right to prevent those who do like him from listening.
And I think the whole excuse about “impressionable children” is exactly that, an excuse. For one, if parents are concerned about what their children watch/hear, they should be either preventing them from exposure, or at least putting things in proper perspective for the kids (just talk to them about it!!).
On a personal note, I grew up in a house where HS was on every morning, and I can say that it had no detrimental effects on me. I didn’t go out and do anything crazy, or repeat bad words, or whatever. I also grew up watching horror movies, and once again, I was not inspired to go on a bloody rampage.
Sorry for the tirade, but it pisses me off when children are used as an excuse for censorship and repression.

Re: Clear Channel drops the Howard Stern show
I am not a HS fan. I just dont get him.But he has a right to say whatever he wants about whoever he wants!!
And I have the right not to listen or to say that I thing he's wrong.
And quite frankly I just choose not to listen.
And as a mother it is NOT anyone's responsibilty to ensure the morality, values or or political correctness my son carries are decent!! IT IS MINE!!
And damn anyone thinking that privelige belongs to them!!
I will decide and be responsible for what my son hears until he is old enough to change the channel!!

Re: Clear Channel drops the Howard Stern show
Awwhh, c'mon.Howard has some of the funniest *bleep-bleep* on in the morning. I almost wet myself one morning during his show (the guy with the lisp attempting to order the sandwhich from the Deli to win some contest). Call me a hypocrite or whatever, but what's the problem if people can enjoy or laugh at something (even if it's not P/C?)??? The world is just too *bleeping* uptight. It's not like my beliefs are going to be corrupted because of the show and if they are, then there's a little more to worry about than H/S.
*Bleep*, let's start sensoring everything...
Bill O'Reilly at night (too controversial)
Sponge Bob during the day (too violent)
Soap Operas (too racy)
Commercials (too racy, suggestive, etc. - how about the shampoo commercials where the chick is having the big 'O'

I don't think it is my job to correct someone else's bad parenting, and it shouldn't have to be someone else's job. I knwo that I certainily don't want that type of responsibility

How sad that you don't care about society. Other people can have bad morals, and it doesn't affect you, right? Just change the channel...
