I'm trying to avoid the calligraphy route BC I just don't want to spend the money so I'm thinking to put the addresses on clear labels with some kind of pretty font and stick them on the front of my envelopes. Is that tacky?!

i personally wouldn't put labels on my wedding invites. we couldn't afford calligraphy so we went the digital route. I'd look into that!

I personally wouldn't do labels on formal invites. Maybe on stds or thankyous. We are planning to print directly on the envelopes with our printer. Also, look into digital calligraphy. I remember someone talking about it on here and I went to the website and they're local and were very reasonable.
ETA: found it!

I did clear labels and they looked great… couldn't understand paying all that money for something that immediately goes in the trash.

i did labels and they worked out great! people throw out the envelopes anyway- I cared more about having really nice invites, and didn't care about the envelopes all that much

I.think it's perectly ok! I.think spending all that money on something people will not even notice is such a waste! U can't even tell with the labels!

Do what works best for you! We didn't do clear labels but honestly I really don't think anyone cares. I'm at that point in wedding planning where I'm like, 'will this get it done?' There's so many other important details to worry about so pick what feels right and keep going! Good luck!!

Do the labels. This is one of those things where I cannot understand how someone thinks its tacky LOL I don't ever I mean ever recall seeing someones invites and paid attn to someone having calligraphy, digital or labels. Its your choice do what works for your budget. Happy Planning.

I've gotten wedding invitations with beautiful handwritten calligraphy, digital calligraphy, hand written, and labels. While calligraphy is beautiful (and I'm one of those weirdos who saves the invite in the envelope), it's definitely not necessary. I've never once looked at an envelope that was addressed with a label like, pfft can't believe they used labels! Do what works best for you. I agree with KTF, whatever gets it done.

I'm personally not a fan of clear labels. We used them for our engagement party invites and didn't like how they turned out. For our save the dates, we printed the addresses directly on the envelopes and they turned out great! You don't even need a high-end printer, we got a cheap one off of amazon for very little.

Yes! I printed right onto my envelopes from home, easy and inexpensive. I'm not a fan of labels either but if that's your only option then its just fine to do.

I liked labels for my save the dates but I wouldn't use it for the wedding invites (just my own personal preference.) However, the digital print seems the way to go!

I save the envelope the majority of the time too, lol.

I used clear labels with a nice font. I personally don't see the big deal, even though I love paper products. People were far too enthralled with my stamp (it was FH's guinea pig that passed away) to care about a label!

Do what works for you and what is in your budget. Remember it is just and envelope, not the invitation itself. Have fun planning = )

I don't think people are going to talk about what their invitation envelope looks like. I think the labels are fine. As long as it looks nice then why not!

I ended up printing my own envelopes in a pretty script and it looks like they were done professionally. A little playing around with the printer and then copy the address on and print. I couldnt see paying a dollar a line for the outside and the inner envelope for calligraphy that most people just throw out :) super easy too
