I went open toe and have no regrets (most of my BP did too).

Re: closed toe, or open?
I think you shoud get whatever shoes you want. Some of my bm's wore open toe shoes and some didn't. Nobody's feet stuck out in any of the pictures and everyone was happy. Everyone likes different types of shoes.I happen to like open toe shoes.

Re: closed toe, or open?
I changed into slippers at my wedding and it wasn't a bid deal b/c I didn't have very high heels on my shoes -- only about 1 1/2 - 2 inch heels My dress dragged a little but the cleaners did a good job getting it clean.

Re: closed toe, or open?
I'm just going to get whatever is most comfortable. I'm flat footed so i need really comfy shoes without too big of a heel. So whatever feels best i'll get.
But open toe doesn't look as bad as i thought it would... i saw a bride recently with open and she did not look barefoot

Re: closed toe, or open?
I am foregoing comfort for style... I am a bit of a shoe freak, so I bought what I thought looked good, which is a closed toe pointy shoe with 3.5 inch heels. I know my feet are going to be cursing my name, but I only plan on wearing them for pictures, the ceremony, and part of the reception. I have ballet slippers for all the other time. I'm going to bring both pairs of shoes with me for my dress fittings, so that we make sure it doesn't drag on the floor. As for my bmaids, I'm just asking them to get any pair of ivory colored shoes that they feel comfortable in. Their dresses are a pale yellow, so I thought ivory would be a nice choice.

I just love when other people tell you what YOU should do on YOUR day. You're the bride...this may be the only day that is all about YOU (and FH). Do whatever YOU want! If you feel that you would be more comfortable in open toed shoes...then GO FOR IT!!! I'm sure that you will look beautiful either way.

Re: closed toe, or open?
You should definitely do what you want on your day - I am one of those who is a stickler for closed toes with pantyhose. It's just a 'thing' with me personally.
Also - consider if either your dress or the BM dresses need extra support - in the way of control-top hose or whatever....my BM dresses are made of a crepey material and so leetle potbellies can show etc...and most of my girls wil be more comfortable with some sort of undergarment support like hose. Ergo, in my case, closed-toe.

I think you should wear what you're most comfortable in. Personally, I'm wearing open toed shoes - I don't think they look less elegant or attractive than closed toe shoes. Personally, I abhor white shoes so seeing a closed toe, white shoe sticking out from under my dress, would be unattractive in my eyes.

Re: closed toe, or open?
I am in the midst of this dilemma now, as I prefer no stockings and open toe sandals. Wedding is August 30, and I cannot imaging wearing stockings in August But my mom thinks this is horrible and informal. I will probably go with what I want anyway For those of you that wore open shoes, was the dress comfortable with no stockings?

Re: closed toe, or open?
I heard from a few brides that it's a good idea to wear stockings on your wedding day, becuase you will be dancing a lot and you'll get sweaty (nerves could make you sweat too!) which could aggravate your skin if it rubs together. Two girls I spoke to had their inner thighs chafe/blister from wearing thigh highs and dancing in them for hours. Pantyhose will protect that sensitive part of your body! I'm not taking any chances!

I got married in November, so I had closed shoes. Do what you like....it's your day.

I want closed toe shoes... I plan on wearing stockings, and I have a huge pet peave about wearing stockings and open toed shoes.

Re: closed toe, or open?
they have footless pantyhose if you want support and open toes (like thrilled, I hate open toes with pantyhose).
But I went without pantyhose , and had no issues.

Re: closed toe, or open?
I'm getting married the end of June and I'm wearing open-toed shoes and no stockings. I'll just put on lots of powder so I don't sweat!!!!

Re: closed toe, or open?
I'm wearing closed toe for the reason the bridal person said! I am letting my girls where open toes though, it's July and outside. I'm also wearing thigh highs, but I wanted to wear those anyway so it works out well.

closed!! I've always envisioned myself wearing not only garter and thigh highs but pointy toed satin shoes with an ankle strap..

Re: closed toe, or open?
off topic for a sec... can you still wear a garter if you're not doing the throwing thing?
