Clubbing?

Re: Clubbing?

I actually met my husband at Zacharys!!

The best part is neither of us ever went there before the night we met or after. I used to go to Sprats on Thursday nights and the one night I didn't get in we went to Zacharys! I was only 19 so I told the bouncer some story about my wallet being stolen. He eventually let me in and a few hours later I accidentally hit this guy on the head as I was dancing with my hands up. The rest is history.

Bridetobe-Oh my God!!! I forgot about Avanti's & Paleds!! I'm a Queens girl as well! (I moved to Nassau but I'm a Queens girl ALWAYS!! )

Michele- I can't remember which club it was but I did go to a club in New Rochelle. It was on the second floor on a main St. I used to hang out in White Plains & I would go bar hopping up & around Mamaroneck Ave.

I used to live at this rock club off of L.I.E called the Cat House. That was around 1988! I missed that place free admission & ALL the drinks for me & anyone near me!! Those were the days!! (I was only 18 at the time)

Re: Clubbing?

Wow, does this bring back memories!!! And makes my feet hurt because going out meant shopping for the outfit!! And the outfit always consisted of matching $9.99 pumps and belt from Rainbow (or wherever)!!!! Right Jen?!!!!

Anybody remember Uncle Sam's on Hempstead Tpke in Levittown? Metro 700, Spratz, oh geez, what was the name of the place in Long Beach? Malibu!!! Yes, Michelle, I went to 21 North a couple of times, and some other places up there (my BF used to date someone from up there).

Avanti, Elephas (god that was ages ago, I was underaged then LOL ), Chevy's (drank way too many SOB's in that place), Carrington's (in Stony Brook), Levels, geez, I'm all over the place, huh? Queens, Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester! Oh wait, Manhattan after work -- CRAFT is setting in, I can't remember the name of the place -- SHOUT, that's it!!! And some others I can't think of!!

Not for nothing, but I had a great time back in the day, but I'm glad those 'looking' days are over!

Re: Clubbing?

I havent been clubbing in so SO long.
I think I first started out at Rumrunners of oyster bay ( of course I was underage then)
Then I remember going lots to spit and zacheries and club california
I kinda rather go out now to the local bars when I get a chance ( which is not very often).
Gimme a budlight and a barstool and some good friends and I'm a happy girl!

Re: Clubbing?

No one goes clubbing now anymore?
We still do. Of course not nearly as often as we did back in our single years, but when we do go now, we go nutty! And from time to time we bring the guys along. Nothing beats dancing with my honey!

Metro 700 is definitely a blast from the past!!
Sprats and this place in Long Beach that changes their name every two weeks were my favorites. Mirage in Queens by the Whitestone Bridge. In the city it always was Webster Hall, Copa Cabana (which I will need to check out since it reopened around 34th st), spanish clubs in Queens, I am fading in memory here: place by Union Square that was huge. It had a seating area sort of like bleachers but with carpet on it. It begins with a 'P'. And of course good old Limelight.

Now we go to Club NY, China Club, haven't checked out the new Copa yet and Moments in Elmont. Once in a blue moon, Oz in West Hempstead.

Re: Clubbing?

007 .... what do we have on LI now that can compare to 007 on a thursday night back during the late 80's early 90's ??!!!
would love to know if anyone has an answer or idea!

Re: Clubbing?

Do you mean 007 or 700?
If you mean 700, I would compare Cyberia Fridays to it or Wall St. (although I haven't been there in a year).

Re: Clubbing?

This is bringing back soo many memories:

When I was a teen, I went to: Trixx, Focus, Uncle Sams, WW Flash, Feathers, Panama Jakes, etc.

When I got older:

Zachary's, Buttles, Brightfellows, Metro 700, Malibu, Sprats, Uncle Sams, Levels, Chevy's, Spit, Luxe, Mulcaheys, Dublin Pub, Sundance, Napper Tandy, Industry, Roxy, Rose and Thistle, Sparks, Barkers, CPI, OBI, Boardy Barn, Summertimes, Patty McGees, Pollyesters, Februarys/Hammerheads.

My god, I was a little party animal!

Now I'm an old fart whose highlight of the week is finding chicken on sale at $.23 a pound (or something like that!).

Does anyone remember 2001???

What about the Salty Dog???

Hearing the names of some of these clubs really brings back memories.
