Cocktail Hour Music & JT Brides

So we are having a string trio for our ceremony as well as the cocktail hour.....

we are in the larger CH room at JT.....

does anyone know if JT tells the trio where to sit and play? or do we get to choose the spot we want them in? where would you suggest they sit? we are having a holiday wedding and i would like them to play christmas songs - not songs like jingle bells - but those orchestra sounding christmas time songs - im not even sure of the names of some of them, im actually going to try and find a CD to get the names - ok sorry i am rambling!! - back the question i want them to be noticed but not in the way either - any ideas??? anyone with musicians at their CH? where did they sit and play?

i dont know exactly what they do but im guessing they will definitely suggest where they go. Theres not that much room where they have space...its a BIG CH room but there are LOTS of tables and stations so im guess theres only a few spots for them.

yeah that is why i'm wondering where they would go! there are soooo many tables! and i def don't want them in the way but i dont want them overlooked either - b/c i could easily see how they might not even be noticed LOL

I may be thinking of the wrong room but if I remember correctly isn't there an elevated area right next to the doorway that they could put performers on? I think I may have seen in a prior bride's pics that being done.

yes there is an elevated area, usually theres tables there but if your guests would fit all on the lower level that would be a great area

I'm a JT bride as well in August of 2009. In the few times that I have seen the coctail hour room since we booked, I'd suggest that the band play in the back by the fireplace. I assume you are using the Terrace and Garden rooms as one for your CH. There is a fire place all the way at the end of the second room where the bar is and I think setting up there next to the fireplace is the perfect setting, especially considering that it will be during the holidays. Also, there are a lot more tables there and the bar is there so your guests will gravitate toward that room anyway. As for your reception, I have never seen the Dome Room (I assume that is where you are) so unfortunately I cannot help with that. Good luck and it sounds like you'll have a beautiful wedding. Cannot wait to see your pictures. BTW, could you FM me the name of the string trio you are using because I'm having my reception at JT and would love some music during the ceremony. Thanks. i'll have to check it out next time we go there.....for some reason i cant picture a fireplace, i thought that was in the smaller room? oh im so confused!!

I believe the fireplace is in the smaller CH room. The larger one that you have doesn't have one..but! - I think it was nice to place the trio on that elevated area! I always thought it was an ideal place to seat a band/string ensemble. All they need to do is move the chairs/tables. :) I believe there are pictures of this setup on the boards somewhere~

I think I remember the elevated area......that is probably the best place for them to go - is it opposite the bar area against the wall on the other side of the room?

HOW many guests are you having? if theres enough tables for your guests on the floor then it should be fine
