Cocktail Hour Poll

My FH and I are trying to figure out how to bring down the quote we got for a DJ - we are having a Vienna hour so right off the bat it's a 6 hour wedding. We're wondering about having the dj at the cocktail hour and wanted to see what everyone was doing.

I think the pianist and the sax from my band are gonna play during the cocktail hour.. like a jazz duet ...

My FI wanted a keyboardist so thats what we are doing, but my friend just gave the hall a cd of jazz music and they were able to pipe that in and it was fine. (and it was no add'l cost to her)

There's a baby grand piano in our cocktail hour room, so we're hiring a pianist to play.

I got a Jazz trio to play ceremony and cocktail hour for $300.

I hired a keyboardist for the ceremony and cocktail hour and it worked out to be cheaper than having the DJ for both and then the reception. I think its going to be nicer also, with two different types of music.

We were going to have our string trio from the ceremony come & play, but our DJ gave us the extra hour for free, and we have a swing band playing for the viennese hour

Our catering hall played a cd of soft music.. everyone BS's anyway, so no one missed live music, and it saved on our budget!

We are having a Sax player for the cocktail hour - got him through our Dj. The price is a little more than I wanted to spend for a Dj but we really wanted something different for the cocktail hour music.

we had a string trio...and while no one would notice if you had no music...the live musicians defintely were noticed...(especially since many in DH's family are musicians...I was happy that they thought the trio was excellent)
