Hi Ladies Ok...let's just say I was able to switch my time...from 8:30pm cocktail start to a 6:30pm start (Friday night) which do I do? Please think about it for a minute and then give me your honest answer. Keep in mind it's a 5 hour reception because of the viennesse - so the 8:30pm would end at 2:30am and the 6:30 would end at 12:30 - and would possibly do an after hours. Thanks

Re: Cocktail Hour Time...Please Help!!!
Fridays are rough - we are expecting a lot of our guests to be late - so we tried to start things as late as possible without having the party too late - since our CH ends at 8 we are hoping that guests arriving around 7:30 may still may be able to catch some of it.....but you and your Mom are right - the most important people - like your family and close friends will most likely be taking the day off and will be there from start to finish - so don't worry too much - i would just do the 6:30 CH - if people miss it, yeah that *****, but I am pretty sure that they won't be late or miss any of your reception.....good luck whatever you decide! i am sure it will be fine either way!

I was going to say 8:30 until I read that you are doing a VH. I think going until 2:30 is too late for you let alone the guests. You're going to be going all day long and by 2:30 will be pooped out to enjoy your wedding night

I would definitely start at 6:30....8:30 is too late. It's bad enough people are drinking, but to be drinking and tired....I would be nervous about everyone getting home. JMO

i guess honestly a 7:30pm start would be best. Its hard b/c its friday and people work -- but it gets kinda late when its an 8:30pm start

Thanks ladies..I'm getting ready to head to Russo's to beg them for the 6:30pm start! Trust me..no one will want to miss the Russo's cocktail hour so I don't think 6:30 will be a problem! LOL They might not even let me do it...I shouldn't get my hope up til I ask! I'll let everyone know later. If they don't do it - I know people will freak when they open the invite..but like I said...if it's too late..then don't come! LOL

I voted 6:30. I think that on a work night it's a lot to ask people to go to an 8:30 CH...that's just me though. I wouldn't make it 'til the end if I went to a wedding that late on a Friday...

830 would be fine only if you weren't doing the V-hour, but even if you do, I don't think people will stay for the whole thing until 230. Let them take the cakes and candy home in like some personalized cake bags and that could be their favors (edible favors are great cuz it fits everyone!)
This is what I'm considering and maybe it'll work for you!

Re: Cocktail Hour Time...Please Help!!!
Just a suggestion.............. My wedding is on a Friday night. Church is at 4pm and CH starts at &pm. We originally booked the viennese hour but after much thought we felt that we would be paying an extra $12 per person for the extra hour and because it is on a friday we felt many people would be leaving early. SO.......... what we did is we scratched the viennese hour but added viennese trays. So the guests still get all the dessert but the wedding doesn't go an extra hour. Then we have an after party set up at the hotel for all the guests there.
Just a thought because I feel that A friday night wedding that goes to 2:30 in the morning might be a bit wasteful since a lot of people won't stay till that time

See, now you have a plan B if they said they can't do 630.
