I know this has been done before and most people will think I am nuts but I don't want to go to my cocktail hour. I have one of the biggest bridal suites and I really want to hang out w/ fh and relax and eat. I know if I go down I won't eat. And last I always pictured that huge suspenceful introduction into the ballroom and I feel like it would be better if I wasn't seen before hand. What do you all think?

Re: Cocktail hour Yay or Nay (w/ poll)
i'm going to be floating around my coctail hr and if my dress permits, stuffing my face as i greet our guests, i won't miss a grand entrance though bc the ceremony is on site, and my big 'tadda' will be when i come down the aisle prior to it...

I know i have 2 years to think about this but i KNOW im going to my cocktail hour just to get at least some if not most of the 'hellos' out of the way, and of course eat the delicious food!
At my engagement party i spent most of the time talking to my guests that i hardly ate and i really regret that! i want to dance and eat at my reception and enjoy myself.
You do what is right for you. If you don't want to go then don't. You can eat in the bridal suite!

We'll be going to CH... that where the best food is!!! Also, we'll do our meet & greet at the CH, I do NOT want to do a receiving line.

Re: Cocktail hour Yay or Nay (w/ poll)
my real grand entrance is me walking down the aisle, after the guests have already seen me then I really don't care if I make an entrance at my reception or not. I don't want to miss cocktail hour because a) I'll be one hungry biotch and b) I don't want to have to waste the 4 hours of my party going around greeting people

Im not going...I want to enjoy the time in the bridal suite with my bridal party.
THE CH food will be brought to us....we will have a mini-ch hour in the suite....
Finally, someone who feels like me, It makes me feel better to know that I am not the only one
I dont think i want to go to mine either..I want to relax with my husband and my bridal party..while i know the cocktail hour will be great, i want to make sure all of our pictures are taken so I am not doing this during the reception. But I just want to relax before i get ready to party the whole night! And yea, I kind of want that grand entrance too

Re: Cocktail hour Yay or Nay (w/ poll)
I'm so happy to see that so many people are attending their cocktail hour. I voted undecided....I've heard from so many people that it's the best thing to do so you can say all of your hello's etc. then and at the reception enjoy yourself. I thought the majority would say they wanted their grand entrance....but now I feel better thinking about attending my cocktail hour. Plus we got the steel drummers and want to enjoy them also!

I feel the same way, I don't think we're going to our CH because we have a huge bridal suite too, and we get all the same food as the CH upstairs, but we really wanted a grand entrance!

i have to say though even though i plan on attending my CH i still plan on going around to all the tables. . . there is no way i am going to remember who I said hello to at the CH and I want to make sure that I get around to all of my guests!

We plan on attending it. I want to get it out of the way so we have more time to actually enjoy the wedding.

we both want our grand entrance but we also want love our CH room... i think it's our favorite part of the whole thing...
so...
we're going to get those glasses with the fake nose and mustache and wear it to the cocktail hour. whenever someone talks to us we're just gonna speak gibberish lol.
then we'll have our grand endtrance at the Reception.

Re: Cocktail hour Yay or Nay (w/ poll)
going to the bridal suite for about 15 min then going to the cocktail hour. FH and I paid for it therefore we partake in it.
I am doing photographs before hand just so our time is eating and drinking with family. I really don't care about the whole grand enterance which is a big deal to most and i understand why just isn't for fh and i.

I'm going to CH. I went to a wedding where the bride and groom didnt go to their CH and spent their entire RH greeting everyone. They literally got to dance maybe 3 times, and didn't eat dinner.
I want to enjoy it all!

I def will be attending mine as well. I think the CH is the best part of the wedding, lololol, you get to meet and greet your guests so you wont have to do that whole thing later, besides, I put alot into the CH so I really want to enjoy it, with a bib on
I agree, I'm doing the same thing. My goal is by reception time, to have greeted all of my guests so FH and I can enjoy every second of the short reception we all have

I plan on greeting a lot of my guests at the church and then I will take a little time in the beginning to get to the rest but believe me, I will be dancing th entire night, even if it means saying Hi, giving a kiss and leaving.
well i kind iof dont want to go cause my entrance will be the first time we are introduced as husband and wife but then again we were thinkin we are gonna be getting married at the rh so we just might go to half of it

Re: Cocktail hour Yay or Nay (w/ poll)
I was planning on attending mine just for the fajita bar, but now that I'm reading everyones posts it IS a good idea to get that out of the way so you don't have to spend too much time table hopping later on.
