I know this has been done before and most people will think I am nuts but I don't want to go to my cocktail hour. I have one of the biggest bridal suites and I really want to hang out w/ fh and relax and eat. I know if I go down I won't eat. And last I always pictured that huge suspenceful introduction into the ballroom and I feel like it would be better if I wasn't seen before hand. What do you all think?

Hey! A close friend just got married and she had the best idea (which I am stealing for my wedding). She had a 'reserved' spot for her and her bridal party in the cocktail hour room. They all sat there and guests could go and talk to her, but she stayed seated so she could eat. The Matr'd kept an eye on them and if someone stayed too long, he would ask them to let other people say hello. This prevented people from bombarding her at the reception and she got to dance all night long! I don't want to miss my reception so this is most likely what I will do.
However, I hear ya on the Bridal suite and wanting that intimate time with you new hubby!

I def will be attending mine as well. I think the CH is the best part of the wedding, lololol, you get to meet and greet your guests so you wont have to do that whole thing later, besides, I put alot into the CH so I really want to enjoy it, with a bib on

if you don't want to go---don't go! having a big suite and being able to just relax for that time with your new DH will be worth it. i know a lot of ppl who did it that way, where they attended the CH 'in their suite' and had time to just chill before the recepiton

Re: Cocktail hour Yay or Nay (w/ poll)
We are both obsessed with CH so we have to go, plus we want to greet alot of guests so we can just party at the reception. We're still doing our grand entrance too.

I like that idea actually!!!!
I'm gonna mention something to FH tonight (tho he'll probably say no). I should find out if they can do something like that for usl. We don't have a big room but i'd rather just relax and enjoy some time alone.
The best part is the food, I know i won't eat either because i'll feel like everyone's watching me.

This is a great idea!
We want to be at our cocktail hour b/c we want to get the 'hellos' out of the way, but we were planning on taking about 15 minutes for the 2 of us to go back to the bridal suite and eat (just in case we don't get a chance to at the CH)
The suspense is nice, but then you have to greet everyone at the reception and lose precious dance time.
It's up to you- it seems like you have been looking forward to the BIG ENTRANCE!

Re: Cocktail hour Yay or Nay (w/ poll)
i can def. see why you want to be in your bridal sutie i have seen it and it is hugh its big enough that you can have your own mini party there!!! ... i am undecided ... i dont want to go to my cocktail hour but at that the same time i think its a good idea to greet some guests there so its less time you have to do that at the reception ... i was thinking about going for the first half hour then going to my bridal sutie and eat then get announced at the reception

It's totally up to you and your FH to do whatever you guys want to do. I know my FH would be really disappointed to miss the cocktail hour, and I don't really like the spotlight so not having a big grand entrance is fine by me!

ditto - I didn't spend all this money to not enjoy it. I plan on spending about 30 mins with FH in the suite before we go down (our CH is 1.5 hrs).
