I know this has been done before and most people will think I am nuts but I don't want to go to my cocktail hour. I have one of the biggest bridal suites and I really want to hang out w/ fh and relax and eat. I know if I go down I won't eat. And last I always pictured that huge suspenceful introduction into the ballroom and I feel like it would be better if I wasn't seen before hand. What do you all think?

I do not get the point of the grand entrance. People will see you when you walk down the aisle. Its not like when you go to the reception that is the first time people are laying eyes on you
My ceremony is at the RH, so yes i am taking pics before and attending my CH

I really want a chance to experience everything at my wedding. Plus the cocktail hour is more relaxed and you can mingle with your guests without having to roam from table to table during dinner.

I couldn't miss all that food!!! We extended ours a 1/2 hour so that we could do pics and go in for a little while

Re: Cocktail hour Yay or Nay (w/ poll)
I honestly want to go to my cocktail hour in order to be able to see all of our guests. I want to mingle, chat, and get a bunch of my hellos out of the way. I really don't want to feel guilty for spending my reception on the dance floor. Then about 15 minutes or so before it is over, I will go to the bridal suite, eat a lil, and spend those few minutes with my FH to give that lil break before our grand entrance.
With that said though, I think if you don't want to attend your cocktail hour don't. I think if you want to spend your time in the bridal suite then do it. A friend of mine just got married and she said her most special time of the day (I'm sure one of many) was the time they spent in the bridal suite before everyone got there. So enjoy yourself and do what YOU and YOUR FH want with your day!!!

my real grand entrance is me walking down the aisle, after the guests have already seen me then I really don't care if I make an entrance at my reception or not. I don't want to miss cocktail hour because a) I'll be one hungry biotch and b) I don't want to have to waste the 4 hours of my party going around greeting people
I agree!

i agree too....
but remember.. typically only a few of your invited guests show up to the church so the first time they willbe seeing you is coming into the cocktail hour. they will prob bombard you and you may not be able to eat.

Re: Cocktail hour Yay or Nay (w/ poll)
I can see doing it both ways...its really up to you and FH.
You could do half and half if you want - about 30 mins relaxing and eating alone (or with BP) and then go down to the cocktail hour. It won't give you that 'grand entrance' but could be a solution if you want to do both.
I think me and FH will have a least a little bit of alone time before going down, I am thinking like 20 mins - 30 mins. plus, I want some of the shrimps before my fam eats them all !!!
