Cocktail music?

I booked a band, but wanted to do something different for the cocktail hour. Anyone suggest a good place to start? either string quartet or strolling violins?

check out one of the colleges in your area, talk to the director of the music department. They might have people to recommend for just this thing.

For us, we have an 8-piece band, and for the cocktail hour, we are having thier keyboardist play classical music. It was included in the price for the band, so it saves us a little. Plus our cocktail hour will be outside, so we hope to just have background music.

Hi there, like chmlengr, our band company will provide a keyboardist for our cocktail hour. That works with our budget. This summer, friends had a steel band at their cocktail hour-it was awesome! Her cocktail hour was outside on the beach, so the steel drums fit in perfectly. Have you signed a band for your reception? Many band companies can help you find alternates for cocktail hour (violinist, steel drums, harp, etc). Good luck and best wishes

We are using Sterling music ensembles. I got a Harp, flute, violin trio for my ceremony and a pianist, violin, flute trio for my cocktail hour. It was only about $1,200.00.which is not bad for having a harp included and for travel...and all that...hey have a website .Hope this helps

We loved our trio from Island Classical Ensembles. I felt they were reasonable at $750 for 2 hours. At our request, they played classical selections for the 1st half hour and then some jazz and contemporary selections for the 2nd half.
