Cocktail Reception

Hello Ladies:

I keep seeing the word 'cocktail reception' can someone explain to me what this is? Is there a difference between cocktail reception and a buffet style wedding?

if i remember correctly, i believe deseversky does a mansion style reception which is very similar to a cocktail reception...which i think means that instaed of a formal sit down dinner or buffet, you have multiple stations open for dinner time with passed hors d'oevres similar to a cocktail hour...just extended so to speak for the whole dinner...in mansion style, this is set up across several rooms of the mansion...sometimes each room has it's own theme or cuisine

Cocktail Reception

I had a cocktail reception. I had an hours of passed and then a bunch of food station that opened from the first dance and closed when we cut the cake. It was like a buffet but i thought my food selections were awesome and not something you see at a typical buffet. I loved it.
