Come in here and slap some sense into me... (long)

Come in here and slap some sense into me... (long)

So... one of my BMs calls me the other day regarding Bachelorette party stuff and asks for FH's number to give to her live-in boyfriend (not a GM) supposedly so that HE can discuss bachelor party plans with him.

Well turns out her BF (let's call him Mike) really wanted to ask FH for help in getting her an ENGAGEMENT RING!!! Now, he's been talking engagement since Nov and it hasn't happened yet so we had pretty much given up on him.

Now, the reason I need to be slapped: I am THRILLED that my cousin (BM) will be getting engaged soon and I am VERY happy for her. BUT -- I don't like the idea that Mike wants MY FH to help him get the ring and GET IT FROM THE SAME PLACE he bought mine! I don't know why.... I just didn't like the idea of her ring coming from the same exact place as mine. FH didn't get my ring from a common place and LOVES telling the story of what he went though to get my ring. It's his story, ya know? He's very 'proud' of it so as you can imagine he isn't exactly thrilled about this either.

Why can't Mike just do his OWN homework and find her ring on his own, ya know??? I know, I'm being silly. Of course, FH is going to help him and point him to where he got my ring... I'm just not thrilled about it.... is that so wrong? If so... please proceed to slap the sense back into me...

Here are 2 slaps. That is SO silly! Who cares where the ring comes from. You should feel honored that they like your ring so much and trust your FH so much to ask for his help! it is DEFINITELY not something to be mad about.

I don't think you need to be slapped, but I don't think you need to waste energy being upset about this either. I am pretty sure you are not the only person to get and e-ring from this jeweler.

You and your FH should be flattered that your cousin's boyfriend is so impressed with your ring and Mike's success at getting you a beautiful ring that he wants Mike's help.

SLAP!

it's not like he's going to buy the SAME ring! And EVERYTIME 'Mike' tells his story, he'll have to talk about Jimmy helping him.

It's okay honey. It's still YOUR day.

slap, slap, slap...

you should be flattered that he wants to get it from the same place! your FH did his homework so why not 'share the wealth'? there are many more important things to worry about and be upset over, this is not one of them...

Boys are silly. they need all tehhelp they can get.
My friend used to work for a diamind comapany, then she got a friend a job there, and then let. So when her boyfriend was goign to propse, he had the friend that stil worked there get the diamoond for her & worked with her on a settign, so we all knew about it before the bride did.

I thought that was a little impersoanl, but he knew he wanted soemthing special, so he had to use whatever contacts he had, whihc seem like what your cousin's boyfriend is doing.

Just be happy with the fact that you have the more creative future husband.

I agree with all of the above. Imitation is the best flattery.
I won't slap you, I think you've had enough. Can I kick you instead?
(j/k of course)

Slap! I would be flattered. My FH took a friend ring shopping. If she wanted to get married at the same hall as you then that woulb be another story, but i would be fine with the ring coming from the same store.

Slap! That is very silly, it's still his story. It's not like he's getting the same ring. Be flattered that he wants your fh's help because he did such a great job with yours!!
