Commack Wedding Center or World

hi!! i'm going wedding dress shopping this weekend..... ** SO EXCITED **

has anyone ever been to the Wedding Center or Wedding World in Commack? Which place has more of a selection of dresses?

If you've been here before - was it a good experience? Are appointments required?

TIA!

I've been to the Wedding Center in Commack you don't need an appt but I suggest you get there early it gets really busy there. They have a huge selection. If you have a dress in mind bring pics and get the designer's name and MODEL NUMBERS that helps alot.

Re: Commack Wedding Center or World

I've heard some bad things about the wedding center. I just wanted to let you know.
I've never been there but I had to call them because I was looking for a dress by a certain designer and they carry that designer. I called to make an appt and was told no appt is necessary and to just come in. Great! So I call again the following day to get the address and the lady tells me I need an appt. UGH! So I nicely told her what the other lady told me the day before. Then I asked if and when they had open appts , her response was 'NO NOT REALLY'. I waited for an answer but she just stopped at that. What she should have said was when the next avail appt is. I asked another question, which she cut me off and had a major attitude then HUNG UP ON ME! I was actually being nice too! I couldn't believe it. I knew then I would never want to step foot in those doors or give them my business.

Re: Commack Wedding Center or World

Wedding Center of Commack :

You definitely sacrifice service for lower prices there. When they get irritated, you know it. But who cares?! You're saving money. But definitely go to a full-service salon so you know what its like, but buy your dresses there!!!

I bought my dress, my girls' dresses and MOB dress there. You can't beat the prices.

The best time to go that I've found -
On a Tuesday, around 4 - they close at 6 so not many people go at that time.

If you go on a weekend (try to aoid that) get there RIGHT when they open and expect it to get packed within half an hour.

Best time to go is a weekday evening. Then you can go to dinner afterwards.

Re: Commack Wedding Center or World

EDITING THIS POST: Thanks July08Bride.....(excuse my sorry a$$ moment of confusion!)

I also heard negative things about Wedding CENTER; I actually went to both.

I had the most amazing experience at Commack Wedding WORLD and that's where I got my gown.

I worked with Liz who was nothing short of amazing; she had me try on all kinds of gowns to let me see what flattered me the most. I tried on several corset dresses and she tied the entire dress up just like it was my wedding day.

I went to Wedding CENTERand the woman was horrible. She gave me the dress and barely tied the corset.

BUT....Wedding CENTER did have my gown cheaper so I went back to the Wedding WORLD to try it on again; and luckily they matched the price.

My vote is Wedding WORLD (Helen's bridal is the gown shop). Even though I only saved $200 bucks, even if they didn't match the price I was still getting the gown there.....it wasn't worth it to save the money and have ****** service.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes!

Sorry for being a space cadet....OOPS! NOW THIS IS THE RIGHT POST!!!

You have the 2 places mixed up.. Liz is at Helen's Bridal at Wedding World.. She and her daughter Ashley are WONDERFUL!! I used them for my BM dresses and Ashley has the patience of a saint.

Wedding World (with Helen's Bridal) is the one off Motor Pkwy near Syms
Wedding Center is the one off Commack Rd and i agree that their prices are better but the service explains why...

Re: Commack Wedding Center or World

Wedding Center is AWFUL! They are sooo Rude in there. My personal opinion, shopping for your wedding dress should be a wonderful experience.

My advice, go there, look at the dresses, and then bring the price to another store and ask them to meet it or beat it.

Great place to go is Village Bridal in Babylon. They have reasonable prices and it was the BEST salon I went to.

Re: Commack Wedding Center or World

I had a good experience with the wedding center but I didn't get my bridal gown there. My mom got her gown there. We didn't do alterations there so I can't speak about the alteration department.

Re: Commack Wedding Center or World

I didn't have a good experience with Wedding Center. When we went in there for the first time, the owner talked our ears off!!!! He would not shut up!! I went in to look at a bunch of little things (favors, invites, unity candles, etc) and he was insistent that we look at his ring selection and wedding gown selection. I was so annoyed I just walked away from him in the middle of him talking, took a quick look around, and walked out!
