Concern w/Carriage House @ Milleridge
Anyone who has gone on a tour of the Carriage House & has seen the handicap bathroom...knows what I'm about to say.....
...the handicapped bathroom looks horrible. The tile is nasty, the faucet looks like it hasn't been cleaned, there are 2 ratty old waste baskets & a roll of handtowels ontop of the dispenser b/c its broken (and has been for several months now). Its very out of character for the facility - which is beautiful and very well kept......
When I first booked the room, I expressed my concerns to Tiffany. My FMIL will be using that bathroom all night (the reason why we booked it is b/c she is on oxygen and she needs everything on one level b/c she can't climb stairs). Told her it needed to be cleaned & prepped...she said she'd put a flower arrangement in the room.

I'm having my function at the milleridge carriage house. I unfortunately didn't check out the bathrooms. It does seem so odd that the handicapped bathroom is in such poor condition, considereing the rest of the facility is so nice. BUT YOU SHOULD NOT spend a penny to fix the place up. If Tiffany can't help you, go over her head. You're spending an awful lot of money there and you should not have to spend money to fix their bathroom. I suggest you call and speak with Tiffany and if she can't help you, ask to speak with her supervisor. What you're asking for is not unreasonable. You have every right to expect the bathroom to look presentable. Good luck, let me know how it goes.
There is an entrance to the beach just outside the restaurant. We are having our ceremony there.

Karen - next time you're there - check it out. It really is nasty - very out of character for the rest of the facility. Maybe if we voice concern in unison, we'll be heard better.
I will be meeting with them next weekend for my menu & cake. I'll let you know how I make out...

I am going to check it out. When I went I didn't check any of the bathrooms and it's something that's been nagging me since. The second time I went they had just waxed the floors, so we couldn't do in. I'm glad I know. When's your date? I'm Sept 17. It sounds like yours is coming up pretty soon. Good luck. I have no problem voicing my concerns! :-) so let me know how it goes. I'll probably be going out soon so my parents & fil can see the place, i'll check it out then. Thanks for the heads up.

My wedding is next month - March 25th! Ack!! : )
The handicap bathroom is upstairs....the men's and women's baths, coat check & bridal suite are downstairs. You'll see the difference right away....
I'll let you know how I make out.....

Karen, how did you make out? I haven't gone the Milleridge (I like in queens & am car-less) I'll be going in the next few weeks.
I do not believe the public ever receives an authentic signature from the president of the united states. The pope...maybe.

Thanks for following up!! : )
Actually, Paul & I are going there on Sat to finalize the menu. I've told him of my concerns and, since its for the benefit of his mom, he's concerned and ready to talk......
I'll let you know!

I went to see Tiffany tonight and she told me that they are going to re-tile the handicapped bathroom BEFORE MY WEDDING ON SATURDAY!!! Actually, there is an affair Friday night and it will be done before that.
She was concerned b/c I was concerned and made things happen!!! I know it may sound silly but I was very upset about this - and I am totally relieved that they took care of this. I have had such a wonderful experience with their office - they've been so accomodating and very attentive (I never have to say anything twice!)
Wow - how many places would just get up a re-tile a bathroom to make a bride happy???? Now THAT'S customer service! : )

Kudos to The Milleridge--that place never ceases to amaze me!!! Karen--you should be very proud of yourself, you voicing your opinion made it happen!! What a great thing.........
Some places may not share the gratuity/service charge w/the staff. At the Milleridge, the 17% it used to cover the entire wait staff...right down the bartender (no tip jars are on the bar although it is common for guests to leave a tip here an there - I do that when I go to weddings too). For the MD, it is customary to give $1-3 per person as a tip (depending upon the quality of their work). Bridal attendant - no standard - just what I feel comfortable with.

Thanks - it was really hard to do. Funny - at work, I'm as tough as nails. For my wedding, I've been quite the pussy cat (by comparison). Luckily, I've chosen good vendors and have had a relatively easy time.
Actually, I had opted to just buy the rugs and dress up the place. I told Tiffany this & asked her to just get a nice waste basket and clean it...she just picked it up from there!

I'm so glad they solved the problem. How great that they went the extra mile to make sure you got what you wanted and in turn not leave a bad impression on you or your guests. You must be SO relieved! Good luck. :-)

Wow! I am so happy for you. I rememer your other posts about this. I have a disabled father and although my wedding will be at the cottage house there, it is great to know that they are respectful toward the disabled. Have a great wedding and let us know how it goes!
This is getting way out of hand. I only meant to help out in difficult, sensitive areas where you might not be aware of what goes on behind the scenes. I've simply been attempting to inform, for those of you who are interested. I don't have these problems with my customers, so I never expected such hostile reactions. I participate on this forum because I enjoy taking a break from my busy day and I like to help out from my experiences, which I thought would be appreciated. I'm not doing this to get new business or to antagonize anyone. If you are interested in my opinions and feedback, that's fine. If you're not, that's fine also. But why such hostility?
No one is forced to do anything. I've only made suggestions in areas that I thought you might be interested. We are talking about paid employees in a service oriented business. Not the owners who "charge thousands of dollars" (as if we're stealing from you or being innapropriate in our pricing. Believe me; if any business owner charged the wrong amount, he would be out of business in no time. And there are very few vendors who are making a fortune while maintaining any semblance of family life. Most of us are in this business because we enjoy it; not to make a fortune or to have an easy life!)
