Confession question....

FH was told he had to go to confession before the wedding. He is catholic I am not so I don't have to go. If he doesn't go will the church know?

I should add he would be going to confession in a church other than the one we are getting married in.

When you go to confession, they ask you how long as it been since your last confession- I always lie!

I don't think they would know or even could know. The priests aren't allowed to tell what was said, and I believe most booths have curtains...so sometimes they don't even know WHO is there.

Not saying he should or shouldn't--either way, they won't know.

I have FH in a panic about this one. I for one, would like to go to confession before my wedding since i plan on receiving, i am having a mass. I dont however, know if i wil lhave time to go to confession since i work on sats and will have only one day off before the wedding. I had told FH that the priest will probably speak to us about making confession before the wedding....NOPE!!! we went last night to hand in our documentation, etc and the priest only said that when we hand in our paperwork on what readings we have selected we are to tell him who is going to be receiving and if they will be receiving both host and wine...so technically, if we wanted to not go to confession and receive, they would never know!

I have to admit...Ido not agree so much with the whole confession idea even though i am catholic...I always make my own confession to God without the middle man before I receive...but I felt I shoudl do it the right way for my wedding.

As far as I know, you don't 'have' to go to confession. I think it is recommended and while I would have liked to, there just wasn't any time. And I haven't been to confession in like 15 years, soooooo, it would have taken a while!! hahaha

ummmm yeah they didn't tell us that. neither of us went to confession. maybe that's why i'm engulfed in flames.

Can I just ask... does anyone ACTUALLY confess all their sins in confession?

Do you ladies tell the priest, well I had sex out of wedlock and all that good stuff??
