Contemplating..OWN MAKE UP?

My friends mom did her face for her wedding last month and it came out great.
I am considering this since i hzve ben using mac products religiously and they work wonders.
Is any one else torn btw spending the $$$ or doing it yourself.

What do i need. I get compliments all the time so i cnat be that bad

Well, it certainly is a good way to save $$$ especially if you're really good at putting on makeup. For me, I just didn't want to have to worry about anything that day. It's your day to be treated like a princess!

I love MAC's products. Great colors. The one BIG plus about doing your own makeup is that you know exactly what you like and don't like.

You should do a pre-wedding makeup trial on yourself...it would be fun. Then make your decision.

Good luck!

Personally, I wanted a make up artist because I wanted to be pampered on my wedding day, and photographers recommend a good make up artist because they are trained to make you look great IN PICTURES (as well as in person).

i think that if you can do your make up well then no one knows what looks betterwhat looks good on them then them. i persoinally cant put make up on to save my life and had to have it done lol

I know I'll be too freaked out to draw straight lines etc. I'd rather have someone help me with that.

I did my own, as well as some of my girls, on my wedding day. I'm a makeup whore and was encouraged by everyone not to hire someone else. DH even said I would be a mental patient if I let someone else work on my face.

If you're comfortable with working on your own face, then do it!

like kathy, i wanted to be pampered and have someone else do all of the work for me!
and for pictures, you need to have 'more' than usual to have it show up....i was afraid of doing it myself and looking washed out, or of it wearing off...so i had it done.
and as for the cost, it wasn't all that much, especially when compared to what everything else cost that day!!

my FSIL is amazing with hair and makeup, so we are going to get those mall makeovers where you have to buy a product to find the best products and then she will do my makeup on me. i dont want to look like someone else on my wedding day - i have seen some girls look soooo different and sooo dramatic that i know FH wouldnt like it

Would you use a Mary Kay rep who wpoudl charge you practically nothing, all you would do is buy a product ?

I say the same thing.... it is not to save money... i can care less about the $$$ it is my wedding day but when ever i do my make up i ALWAYS get compliments

i am contemplating on whether or not to get it done because of PICTURES... make up artists (good ones anyways) know how to do make up so you look good in pictures

besides i want to look like myself... (my mom keeps saying this to me

I was debating the same thing. I feel pretty good about how I do my own makeup, and I have seen some pictures of makeup I would not have been happy with...Even if I say what I want and specify, I think I know what I want more than anyone else could...It's not about the $, and if you take engagement pics of practice pics. after doing your own to see how it would look in pictures, I say you can't go wrong (and can invest the $ saved into more makeup products!)

I think I am going to do my own make-up. People have complimented the way I do my own make-up and I want to look like myself. I think I am going to take the money I would have spent on a make-up artist and buy new make-up for the wedding.

A lot of people have been saying some great things about MAC. I have never used their products, but maybe I will try some before the wedding. I was going to go with clinique.

I am thinking about doing my own make-up. FH hates make-up and I know when I use even a little too much, he complains. He likes me to look natural. I know what kind of make-up I like and I think I am gonna ask my sorority sis's friend just to put on some foundation. I always say to do what feels comfortable.

i'm with you...i want to be pampered, but when others do my makeup, they always make my lips bigger (and i have nice lips, but i hate lip gloss all over!!!) and they do my eyes up. the thing is, i have small almond eyes, almost asian, in a way...if that makes sense. anyway, my eyes look awesome with curled lashes and shimmer on the lids, not contouring with dark shadows and lining the bottom lash line. i don't look like ME!!! so, my friend may do it with me. we've been practicing.

You could always go to MAC and have it done. - I've done that when i've been a BM - the application is 'free' when you buy 3 products. - I use all of their stuff anyway, so it worked out for me - Something to think about

I do a good job on my make up , but I figured that this would be the one day I could spoil myself. It also helped that My make up artist is really reasonable. I am getting my whole BP done for what I would spend to buy new products.

Hell no.....I am a MAC diva also, but I would not trust my own hand on any part of my body that day...I'm leaving t to the professionals, but if you feel up to the challenge do so, good luck!
