Continuing on my hall search tommorrow

Continuing on my hall search tommorrow

I'm excited! Tomorrow my fiance and I are going to check out 2 more halls for our wedding. We're going to look at the Bridgeview Yacht Club and The Coral House. They both gave me a great price over the phone. If anyone has been to these places or has any advice or comments I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

I've looked at Verdi's of Westbury, Leonard's of Great Neck, The Swan Club, Westbury Manor, and George Washington Manor. I'm trying to find an affordable place for about 60 guests. We liked Westbury Manor and The Swan Club, but we want to make sure we explore our options before committing to one. I prefer Nassau county because most of my guests will be coming from the Bronx.

The Coral House is near me and there is always a wedding there... my FH and I liked them.... food at the tasting was great and they seemed really willing to help....

but i don't know if they do really small weddings. they told us for one room we had to guarantee 150 and the other at least 225.... maybe they have small dining rooms?

I called Coral house today and asked the BM. He said they do serve smaller parties. He said 40-75 guest would be in the Lakeside room and 75-100 in the Colonial skylight. I don't like the lakeside room but I'm not sure if I'll be able to ivite or afford 75 people for the Colonial skylight, which is the room I really liked on the website. Do you think they'd be able to work with me on that or are catering halls pretty strict about quoted minimums?

My friend was just at a wedding at Bridgeview last weekend. She said the food was incredible, to the point that she said she was disappointed that there isn't a restaurant there that you can go to eat at. She said it was so much nicer than she expected (we used to go there back in the day to party) and said it was one of the nicest weddings she's been to, by far. She's a very high maintenance PITA, so it must be really, really good.

I just had my wedding at the George Washington Manor and can only praise them. The food was outstanding, service was great.

Okay we went to Coral House and Bridgeview today. Neither one of them were for us.

Coral House's prices are really affordable. My pockets wished I had fallen in love with it. It had a weird smell throughout though. I did not like the Lakeside room. They said that the cocktail hour and reception are held in the same room. They also only offer passed appetizers and a cold display during the cocktail hour because it's in the same room. It's not a wedding menu, it's a special events menu. The room that I did like on the website was the colonial skylight. This room would have the full wedding menu. I did not like the wallpaper at all. Otherwise the room was okay. It would have a separate area for the cocktail hour but I didn't like that room either. It was a long dark room with stained glass windows. It looked kinda like a pub. No outside light or windows. The ceremony would also be held in this room if it rained. We did peek into the larger rooms and they were beautiful! Especially the Americana room. It was gorgeous. We were wishing that we had a lot more money to invite 150 people to take that room. I wish they would redo their rooms for smaller parties to look like the larger ballrooms.

Lakeside Room w/ 4 hour special events menu
May, June, July, August, September, October
Sat night -$66
Fri evening/ sat afternoon/ Sun evening - $59
Sun afternoon - $52
You can upgrade to a 5 hour party for $5 per person.

Colonial skylight room 5hours with wedding menu (full cocktail hour)
May and June
fri evening/sat afternoon/sun evening - $63
Sat evening - $78
sun afternoon - $56
July/August subtract $1pp
Sept/Oct add $3pp

Bridgeview Yacht club was nice. It was a little bit of a drive and I'd be scared some of our guests would get lost. We would use the room upstairs for our cocktail hour and it had a nice outdoor deck you could walk out onto. The reception would be held downstairs. The whole back wall was a large window overlooking the water/boats. It was decorated with blue and gold drapes and gold toned chairs with blue cushions (no chair covers needed). I thought it was great except they didn't have a good area for an outdoor ceremony. They have a small area out back, probably just for pictures, with a gazebo. Seating guests for a ceremony would be difficult. They also don't have a lot of gardens for picture taking. The really bad part was they said we could only use this area if someone didn't book the bigger tent room because you have to walk through there to access the area. I can't really afford to hope no one books that room on the same night as ours. I'm sure we could do an indoor ceremony in one of our rooms but I really have my heart set on the option of an outdoor ceremony. Also it was a little pricey for us.

Wedding Package ( upstairs room for cocktail hour and reception downstairs)
Fri night
peak - $95
off peak - $85
Sat Afternoon
peak - $95
offpeak - $85
Sat evening
Peak - $105
off peak - $95
Sun afternoon
peak - $95
off peak - $85
sun evening
peak - $95
off peak - $85

They also said they can do a 4 hour sit down dinner package but we only get to use the dowstairs reception room, no upstairs cocktail hour with outdoor deck
Only passed appetizers and Cold displays then dinner. The great thing about this is that they can do this for only $60 per person! You would have to upgrade the cake though to a wedding cake.

Fiance still likes Westbury Manor the best and I'm in a toss up between The Swan Club and Westbury Manor. We still have to look at a few more before we decide.

I highly recommend GW manor. I was married there over a year ago and can not say enough. I still have people tell me how romantic the atmosphere was and perfect for a smaller guest list.

Thanks, but my fiance didn't like it. Also we wanted to do an outdoor ceremony on site and they don't do that and we wanted to be able to take our pictures on the grounds and we can't do that there either. Otherwise it was cozy. I'm happy your wedding turned out to be beautiful. Thanks for the suggestion!

I actually took the photos on the ground. No other wedding were scheduled that day so we lucked out. Yes, you cannot use the ground if someone book that room downstairs.

Also there is Gerry Park at a walking distance if anyone wanted to take pics. $75 fee (which is not that much).

Good luck on your search! I am sure there is a hall that will both please you.
